Each bloom is perfect,
Tiny rays reaching from a golden centre.
A bouquet on a stem named goldenrod,
The late summer wildflower which brightens our day.
Despite the weather, the yellow glory remains,
Dispelling the foggy gloom.
It lifts the spirits of those who pass
Through the gallery.
The sunny blooms shine their best
Along the woodland paths or shoreline.
Bees come to visit, sweet nectar will become honey
And pollen spreads from bloom to bloom.
Goldenrod will shine again next year.
They are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteGoldenrod means August! I was surrounded by it as a kid on the prairies. A beautiful bloom indeed.

ReplyDeleteGoldenrod gets a bad rap because it often grows near the real culprit, ragweed. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me realize how bad I need to get out! I saw a bunch of goldenrod, but was moving along about 65 MPH and no time to stop. That is the story of my life these days.
ReplyDeleteThose bright flowerheads sure do brighten the landscape.
ReplyDeleteIt's out here too and a great lunch counter for the bees.
ReplyDeleteSomeone sings the praises of goldenrod.
ReplyDeleteGoldenrods certainly brighten up the fall season although they have competition from the leaves.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to look at nature pictures again. I've been avoiding it all for awhile. And foggy days can be pretty great too. I love walking around in the fog. It makes everything feel so mysterious.
ReplyDeleteThat's brightened my day too. It's very grey here today after a fine day yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYesterday i watched hummingbirds, Monarchs, and Compton's Tortoiseshells feeding on Goldenrod.
ReplyDeleteNature's flowers are always perfect and lovely!
