Along the way

There have been some curiosities recently along the way as my husband and I explore Prince Edward Island.

In keeping with the mask mandate which the province re-established two weeks ago after a mask- free summer for many, masks are back in every aspect of our lives again. While I never gave up on them, masks are even at the farm now.

Our daughter took this photo recently during a visit to an island farm. Look at that toothy grin! Gotta love that face!

On the Confederation Trail to Borden Carleton, this Seadoo was high and dry. How and why was it placed there?

At Skmaqn/Port la Joye/Fort Amherst National Park, a design on birch bark hung on a tree near a wigwam. Artists use whatever medium is available.

While we were at that park, a jet took off from the Charlottetown airport and passed overhead. A face in the bottom of the aircraft looked back at us.

Also at Skmaqn, a kayak was pulled ashore and hidden in the bushes. Someone was trusting of others, more than I would have been, though it was a quiet day with few people there.

Finally, along the Argyle Shore, a fishing boat beside a barn caught my attention. One of the things I love about Prince Edward Island is the combination of land and sea which influences life here. Perfect!

Farmers should be used to wearing masks, either when spraying crops or working in dusty barns and grain bins. Your high and dry Seadoo reminds me of a supplier of mobility aids here that used to have a mobility scooter on the roof for advertising purposes - we never got past in the school bus without someone joking that it was a very bad bit of parking.

Beautiful yellow boat, is it parked for the winter I wonder.

Celia,

The sea freezes around the island in the winter. Fisherman take their boats out of the water to avoid damage.

Oh mercy!!!!

Masks, even out of doors?

Why?

If we are at risk, in the great outdoors, how come everyone is not dead?

Hello,

The mask wearing face on the hay rolls is funny. I love the cute goat.
You are quick noticing the face on the bottom of the yet as it flew over.
Great series of photos. Take care, have a great week!

That airplane really interests me. Was that an optical illusion or did someone do a little painting? So clever. And, the goat is to die for. I think I will have a similar toothy smile when I get through with this move. I do love the sea and land that your pictures show. I think I would love to live there - except for winter maybe.

What a fun post! I love the smiling goat, and the face on the jet (I had to look twice to see it). You have definitely brightened my day. :-)

Such delightful curiosities, Marie. I am always amazed at the artistic creativity one can find when one is out and about. The hay bale, tree art and you spotting a face on the under carriage of the aircraft. I hope the autumn weather allows you more weeks of enjoyment outside. We hit 36.6C yesterday. A real shock to the system.

I keep on being surprised by the literal closeness of farming and fishing. And those quirky sights are great.

I wondered if maybe someone works on the Seadoo there, and see John had thoughts along the same line...maybe someone sells them.

I love the barn shot...

Marie,
Nice variety of photos! Gotta smile about the face on the bottom of the plane! I would have tried to snap that but I'm pretty sure my pic would not have turned out as well as yours. Nice work!

It's interesting, the yellow boat on the farm. Fishing and farming or just sailing for fun?

Margi,

It looks like a fishing boat.
