The ride

The weather here improved the latter part of this past week. We had sun without significant wind nor threat of rain. Finally!

Our month long wind and rain event began October 17, the day my husband bought a new to him three wheel motorcycle.

A motorcycle was a life long dream for R and the purchase necessitated a license to drive. It meant riding the bike for a month in preparation for a road test. After months without rain, that month, if it didn’t rain, wind and cold made time on the bike uncomfortable and difficult.

However, R persisted and the testing day arrived on November 17, a day typical of the previous month. R almost cancelled the appointment but last minute, arrived for the test, wanting to,“Get ‘er done.”

And he did!

Now the bike waits in the garage for spring and the open roads which stretch before us. Notice I said us.

We’ll see!

Meanwhile, temperatures hover near zero Celsius much of the time and gulls have to wear skates on the icy Trout River.

Winter is just around the bend!

I knew about adult tricycles, but a motor trike is new to me. Much more stable I expect than a bike. I imagine he can't wait for spring now.

That is one badass looking motorcycle. I trust your husband will be appropriately attired in leather. And oh dear, are you really going to perch on the "bitch seat" as it's called?

Congrats to your hubby on his new motorcycle. Love the photo of the gulls and the river scene. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

Congrats on hubbies new al fresco ride! After several accidents in my younger days (no fault of my own) I no longer ride any kind of open wheel transportation on roads. People do not see any type of bikes. Sad, because riding in open air is so much fun. Regardless, one should live dreams. Enjoy the ride!!

Beautiful photos Marie! Congrats to R. I can't wait to see what kind of adventures the two of you will have on that fun motorcycle!

That will be fun, but it does look like a formidable machine.

Oh Marie - so happy for your hubby. My husband and I had a motorcycle for years. He gave it up in 1922-23...it had become so dangerous in our area because of the deer. Please stay safe. Beautiful photos as always. Hugs!

Wow, congratulations on the new motorcycle. Its beautiful. Can I say that about a machine? I was surprised to see the 2 wheels in front and one in the back. Can't wait to see the 2 of you on it having wonderful adventures in the spring.

Well, I would definitely feel safer on a three-wheeled motorcycle than on two wheels. You've got till spring to decide whether you are a biker mom. LOL. I had forgotten about men and their toys. hahaha

Wow.. you are braver than I. Happy for your husband.

How cool! Several friends have them, and enjoy them very much. Can't wait to see where you two go on this new ride. Kudos to R for persevering!

R’s determination really paid off, getting that license in such weather is no small feat. Can’t wait to see you both enjoying the open roads when spring comes.

Both Frank and I are very impressed with Rick's new mode of transport. Great achievement passing the test under those poor conditions. Exciting rides ahead. Winter images are beautiful.

I did notice you said 'us'. Does that mean you're getting your own trike!? Great looking bike, and great shot of the gulls.

That motorcycle is so cool! I have never seen one like it before. It sounds like it will be fun to take out in the spring!

What fun! Too bad you have to wait until spring to use it much.

Marie, it looks like Rick certainly has an early Christmas gift and getting something he has wanted was nice, and hope that he and you have many great adventures once the weather cooperates next spring.

Congratulations to your husband! I'm sure he'll enjoy riding, and perhaps you will too. ;p I've never ridden on a motorbike of any sort but that looks fun.
I'll be experiencing winter soon too. I'm looking forward to being home with my family, but not looking forward to the cold and probable snow.

Well, Merry Christmas early to R!!! How fun that will be to have his dream finally fulfilled. And, yes, YOU can take a ride with him. Make she you take photos of the big event. :) And, yes, Winter is also here in the Netherlands. It's been colder the last two weeks than it usually is all winter, so we'll see what happens with that!

Wow a 3 wheel motorbike is really different- Glad he was able to fulfill his dream to get one and get to use it in the spring. It still feels like summer in South Florida with temps in the low 80's and lots of hot sun.

Sure hope he likes his bike.

I suspect that Rick’s new bike will be a fair weather machine only. Scooting around on it in the depth of a PEI winter would be a challenge!

Glad that you've gotten some lovely days in spite of all the wind and rain! The new bike looks fun, and I'm sure much safer than a 2-wheeled one. Always love the pictures that you share!

I absolutely love that! I was thinking the other day how my high school boyfriend used to have a motorcycle that we would go everywhere on, and this was back in the day when we didn’t wear helmets. I think my generation was a lot wilder than we realized.
