It is that dreaded time of year again, time to wrap the Christmas presents. I always delay the task until necessity dictates the parcels have to go in the mail. Then, it begins.
Scissors ✔️
Tape ✔️
Wrapping paper ✔️
Ribbon ✔️
Name tags ✔️
Pen ✔️
That's how it starts anyway.
Then, a black hole opens up in the room. Scissors, tape, tags or any of the other wrapping essentials disappear and reappear again numerous times during the process. The search increases the time necessary to finish the job. Frustration is time consuming!
Where is that pen?
Besides, how does one wrap some of these unusual shapes? Gift bags can be a good solution but they don't always work. Boxes help but they aren't always the right size or shape. Regardless of the wrap used, the implements continue to disappear. That black hole doesn't respect anything.
Eventually the wrapping is done, often after multiple attempts, due to my dislike of the task at hand. Perseverance to complete the job in one sitting is not one of my virtues.
As if knowing what to buy isn't difficult enough! But, I'll take the shopping over the wrapping any day. ✔️

Me too! I dislike wrapping. I love wrapped presents, and I admire anyone's whose presents are wrapped so nicely....but it is a chore for me! Andrea
Every year I vow to only buy SQUARE presents next year, but every year I forget!

My sister is the world's most creative gift wrapper. I have no idea how she does it.
I'm lazy. I've taken to sending $$ to grandchildren.
I bought a bag of assorted bags, with name tags. Actually, I bought two of them, plus tissue paper. Don't judge me.
Wrapping is impossible for me. I use gift bags.
I actually rather like wrapping presents. I turn on the Christmas music, make a nice hot chocolate or maybe a glass of wine, and start in. I set up in the laundry room or a room where I can walk away and leave it all, if I need to. The worse part is setting it all up. It's such a part of Christmas though, and I am such a Christmas mush. Don't hate me---haha!!
I am a woeful wrapper. And put it off for longer than I should.
The international gifts have been wrapped and posted. The rest are still reproachfully unadorned...
I have all the wrapping stuff in plastic bins under the bed; one just for the Xmas ones. That's not my problem. It's the very back-breaking task itself that wears me down.

I am in the process of reorganizing the wrapping paper, etc, SW. Even with that done, to me it is still a hateful job.
That's one thing I don't miss by not buying presents any more. I was never a good wrapper. :-)
I use bags if I have several items and they are of different shapes and sizes. I buy shirt boxes at walmart for some of the "flat" items. I must say that wrapping is not my favorite thing either. It takes my time away too. I sent 4 gifts in the mail today and one of them had an odd shape...terrible!

Bags can be great, as are boxes. There is no one fix for the problem however. And the tools just disappear!
Personally, I dislike the commercial side of Christmas entirely! I'd be happy with a good dinner, family visiting and some Christmas carols. And maybe a concert at church.
I would love that too, FG. There is nothing I really want in life but to spend time with family and friends. Presents are unnecessary.
I do like to look at prettily wrapped presents, but it is one task I hate for the reasons you stated. I always use gift bags and I staple the tops closed. The kids object because they say they get scratched from the staples. But, until they are old enough for cash, that's my solution.
The kids need one of those staple removers. A quick fix, no scratches. Wrapping is such a hateful job. Any easy fix is a blessing.
