Fun at the beach

A sunny day with a breeze made for perfect conditions after several days of rain. We spent the day with family at Chelton Beach Park and started with a picnic.

This beach is on the south shore of the island near the Confederation Bridge, visible in the distance.

After lunch, we headed to the beach where it was low tide, creating tidal pools which we love to explore.

We found seaweed, hermit crabs and small fish known locally as bait fish.

In the distance, the lighthouse at Seacow Head looked to be enjoying the summer day too.

Down the beach, a dog looked to be experiencing the ocean for the first time. It was a pleasure to watch its prancing and dancing along the beach and into the waves.

Any time we are at the beach, our grandson has his dump truck and digger with him.

The children love the water but also enjoy playing in the sand.

Meanwhile, in the air, several species of gulls floated on the breeze

and hung around with our family enjoying the water.

Nearby another family made a huge sandcastle which we watched for several hours as the Northumberland Strait reclaimed it.

And finally, you never know where you’ll see a Canadian flag.

I think dogs enjoy the beach almost as much as humans do. That's an awesome digger!

Brings back lovely memories of days gone by. Don't you wish you could gather them all and remember all the details? But, we are called to live in the moment and you and yours seem to do quite well.

I love the beach. You don't seem to have many shells on your beaches. I honestly haven't been in so long but just thinking about it, I can feel the sand between my toes.

Wow! That bridge is so long!

GrandSon4 loves his diggers too. But isn't the water quite cold? It's chilly enough here!

Two birds and bridge is a real winner. I was terrified when I drove that bridge. I also love the reflection shot.
Envying you your ocean.

Marie, Could there be a better summertime post? I don’t think so. It does look like you had a great day at the beach and I enjoyed all the photos. I’m learning so much about PEI from your posts. My curiosity was piqued by your first photo and your mention of the Confederation Bridge. Of course, I wanted to know more.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederation_Bridge

The world’s longest bridge over ice-covered water. What an interesting story on how the bridge came to be and how it divided PEI residents on construction or not. I would enjoy hearing where you stand on that. John

That was absolutely the best day at the seaside Marie. Read above comment just before I was about to Google the Confederation Bridge myself, I haven't seen such a long bridge before, what an amazing endeavour ✨
