The past week was a mix of winter and spring weather, sometimes on the same day. This forecast from Environment Canada details the mix of weather we had one day:
Wind becoming east 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning. High plus 1.Wind chill minus 7 in the morning.”
Part of the weather lore in eastern Canada is ‘If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.’ So true!
We also had a beautiful day, without much wind, partly cloudy and temperature above zero. Such a day brings walkers to the boardwalk to enjoy the unusual winter conditions.
The view to sea was stunning, showing the amazing power of nature as the Northumberland Strait is ice covered as far as the eye can see.
However, one can’t help but notice the human contribution to the scene as the Confederation Bridge is visible in the distance, the world’s longest bridge over ice-covered water. The texture of the clouds appeared to mirror the ice. We stopped to take in the beauty of the day and chat with fellow walkers.
That same day, the sentinel Blue Jay was ready to send out the alarm if any food is dropped for the birds. It watched from its perch by the bridge.
We had two days of rain this past week too and lost all of the snow. Not for long though as the next day, it was back. The temperature will drop further this week.
The mix of weather keeps us wondering what each day will bring. Such a pre-occupation is far better than focussing on the news these days.

It is so beautiful. We have had dry weather for more than a week, with clear skies and frigid temps. More than twenty degree difference between morning and afternoon!
We had a brutal polar vortex, then beautiful Spring-like weather and melting, now it will get colder again by mid-week. Always something!

Weather is certainly changeable. Our very wet week changed to colder temperatures with frosty mornings and glorious sunshine later in the day. I love the increased brightness.
In your photo, I didn't see the Confederation Bridge until you mentioned it. The sea full of ice would be quite the sight. Have a good week.

I can feel walk in wind is impossible and I am talking through personal experiences as being from hilly village.
No doubt avoiding news can be better option these days

Weather can be so unpredictable. We had 80 10 days ago in Florida and 45 when I took my walk this morning.

We tend to get all sorts of weather in a day but when I say all sorts I mean a bit of sun, a bit of cloud, a bit of rain - not the extremes you get! It's a nice bridge though.

That is a very true weather saying. WI is also known for weather swings. There are days I wish Mother Nature would just make up her mind.
I agree, Weather is much better than the News.

Our weather today was very windy and a bit of rain. The sun rarely shows up on consecutive days but we enjoy it when we can. Beautiful photos, Marie, stay warm.
We have the same comments about weather here. The chinook brings rapid changes.
Your weather sounds a lot like our weather in Georgia! 20 degrees in the am and 60 degrees in the pm. Crazy!

Marie thank you for sharing about your gratitude journal...it is amazing the joy we find when we take time to stop and notice. So often in our younger days we hurry through from one project or celebration to the next without enjoying the journey. My beloved mom (God rest her soul) told me that "life is a journey, not a destination." Not sure why I did not listen to her earlier! Well like you we are up and down in the weather...today it was 2 with a wind chill in the negative teens. I am certainly busy keeping the bird feeders filled...our blue jays gather every morning for their morning feast :)! Hugs
We've had very cold weather but no snow but not as cold as you get.
Glad you had some beautiful weather despite the forecast. We have snow on the ground right now and more predicted for the weekend.
It was above freezing at home last week, and then the bottom fell out. We tend to say, wait 15 minutes, but it's much the same, especially lately.
On the other hand, it's been lovely here in Yuma. Cool in the morning, and then heating up mid-morning and throughout the day. I must admit, I don't miss the cold weather at home.
All this last week and this week the snow has fallen and the skies awash with the Northern Lights. I hope you got to see them.
Marie, I agree with you that observing nature and being outdoors is way better than sitting indoors and watching or listening to the news, it's also less stressful.
I thought that weather lore was for Grey County here in Ontario!
I may have mentioned that across australia over the last few weeks, we have had floods, cyclones, hail, storms, bushfires and heatwaves - and on it goes!!
That Blue Jay will survey the scene and go about its business. They are hardy, smart birds.
I mutter dark things about our dreary wet winters and my feet which feel like lumps of ice, then I see your frozen photos and think that I am actually not as cold as those Black Ducks which gave up their frozen salt marsh.
