Working to spring

There is open water by the bridge

but looking out the bay, the ice is solid. Far from shore, equipment and people are on the ice.

Two quads with four people are working at an oyster bed site. Work continues there all winter in spite of the ice.

The conditions this day are perfect.

It is zero degrees Celsius with little wind. The sun is bright and strong. In the distance, a truck is on the ice by a fishing shack.

It is a perfect day for smelt fishing too. However, rising temperatures with the warmth of the sun will make the ice unsafe before long.

Spring is in the air.

Yes, it is here, too. Even though the High Country is snowy, the temperatures are rising and it won't be long now. :-)

Here we're at that sort of in between point where the temperatures come above freezing a bit in day and go back below at night. Which makes for good maple syrup tapping conditions.

Several folk evacuated ice on Lake Erie last weekend. Fortunately the Coast Guard was not required.

You live in a fascinating area. I love the pictures and the way you explain them.

And the sap is flowing here (to post tomorrow) although I think it is going to stop for a few days.

Hello, it is nice to see the open water. There is still so much ice.
We went from 70° yesterday to a chilly windy 40° today. The nights are much colder here too. Winter is not over yet. Pretty views and photos. Enjoy your day and weekend.

I was just thinking that as I looked at these shots Marie, I'm guessing they know the right moment to stop driving onto the ice ✨

It seems that sun is getting stronger and stronger day by day Marie!
i am truly afraid of it's heat that we gone have this summer

enjoying the sunny weather with zero temp is blessing though they should be more careful about safety as ice can not be much trustworthy under strong sun
