Looking out the bedroom window as I closed the blinds, it looked like it was snowing. I watched the street light for a minute. Peculiar. Not snow but fog, an unusual visitor on a still night in winter.
The next morning, everything but the air was white. A thick layer of radiation or hoar frost covered the branches and trees, created by nature’s paintbrush as the air cooled and deposited the water vapour in crystalline form on the twigs and branches. It left an impressive canvas.
After breakfast, we dressed quickly for a walk in the frigid air since the sun was already warming the east facing branches. The boardwalk was our destination of choice but we stopped along the way on a street with giant senior trees,
so pretty in this frost.
Many along the boardwalk had cameras and one could understand why. The frost hung in the air as we looked out to the lighthouse.
Along the trail, the trees and grasses were frosty,
creating a magical though nippy cold atmosphere.
Everyone we met remarked how beautiful it was to walk in those conditions.
As is typical this winter, it looked like the sun wouldn’t last long as the blue grey clouds spread over the scene.
However it lifted our spirits to experience the phenomenon with so many others in the setting we know and love.

Gorgeous frosty trees. I love the shot of the trees and road. The lighthouse is cute too.
Lovely winter photos! Take care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy new week!
Magical
Pure magic caught by a talented photographer. Enjoy Marie.
I remember seeing scenes like this in Colorado, but so far, it doesn't seem like the conditions here in the Pacific Northwest allow this. So lovely!
Oh wow!! It is beyond beautiful, it's a magical winter wonderland! Your photos are always gorgeous but I think these are my all time favorites. Simply amazing!
Frosty days are the best!
Magical. The tree lined street is my favorite. Ah, they are all my favorites.
So pretty!
Oh, I think I would wear my camera out with that beautiful hoar frost.
I never experienced that type of frost.
Stunning!!!
Sue

Beautiful photos but gash it looks cold, We have had quite a few frosts this year but so far no snow (yet). Keep warm and stay safe. Diane
Frost is so nice to photograph and you caught its beauty,
Very nice, Marie.
How absolutely glorious.
Thank you so much for sharing the wonder (and the joy).
WOW ... that certainly was/is magical. You captured such a variety too. I'm go glad that your daughter got her 2 vaccine injections. I have 2 friends that work with the elderly and they were in the first group to get the required vaccine too.
Frost like that creates stunning beauty. i love these scenes.
What a beautiful frosty day!
Hoarfrost creates another very pleasant walk. I enjoyed your walk as I was right there.
How beautiful, and how lovely that so many turned out to enjoy the sight.
These Are Truly Magical Shots - Top Shelf
Cheers
Winter at its best brings beauty to the landscape.
I have not seen hoarfrost in decades. Our winters are mild and sloppy during the few times there is snow. YOu have some beautiful photos there.
Great pictures! It isn't easy to get photos that show the frosty branches like you have.
I love the beautiful, frosty trees!
ooooh thank you so much for bearing he frigid cold to bring us these magnificent pictures!! only mother nature could create such beauty!!
I so love these...love, love, love the last and the fourth from the bottom and the tree lined street!

It certainly is a pretty sight.
Beautiful. Your pictures of the snow and frost are so clean and white. Such a pretty day to be out walking with your camera!❤️
Absolutely stunning, magical winter scenes. Most certainly 'an impressive canvas', brought to life with your wonderful writing.
I forgot to add how much I love your tree lined street!
Oh my gosh what a beautiful series of images captured here Marie 💙 your second shot with the Avenue of tall trees is stunning 💜
Gorgeous pictures, the frosty trees are lovely. We haven't had snow yet here in the Pacific Northwest.
Hugs Diane
It's funny how beautiful winter can be with its icy crystals. Your pictures are gorgeous. We had quite a little cold spell down here. One of my daughter's friends posted a comment on facebook wondering how all these people had outerwear in winter clothes and she had none. I laughed because I had accumulated my winter clothing over the years and some of it is 20-30 years old. It never wears out if you only wear it one or two days a year!
I can see why folk talk about "winter wonderland" when I look at your photos - what a beautiful display of nature to enjoy :)
Wow, these frosty pictures are very special. Nice work and thank you for sharing.
We sometimes have hoar frost on the higher elevations in my area, but they are too far from me to capture with a camera. These are the most beautiful and detailed photos of this phenomenon and would love to have been out with you on this walk. I love the cold.
Very beautiful frosty plants.
Fantasy world... magic world...
Undisputedly beautiful.
