Making waves

It is a rare day any time without wind on Prince Edward Island. One day recently, it meant quiet along the boardwalk when sounds of the blue jays and chickadees filled the air and the senses, without competition from the wind. The calm in the bay meant the water which was at high tide, reflected the sky, the usual grey of winter but with a hint of fog. The horizon disappeared as a consequence.

Meanwhile, these two went about their business as usual.

As we continued along the boardwalk, a faint line of horizon appeared to glow in the distance.

However behind this juniper tree, the horizon was all but gone again.

At the turn-about, the glow of the horizon was evident again.

On the way back, a closeup of the area in photo 3 shows the reflection on the still water without a hint of horizon.

Leave it to the ducks to make a few waves in an otherwise calm day.

Another beautiful day along the boardwalk!

Oh glorious! Love, love the water shots. And your ducks never disappoint. We have white sticky snow on everything this morning. Quite the picture. I may have to see if it will photograph, ducking the blobs that I know will find my neck and fingers if I try. the chickadees are really funny, looking for someplace to land that is not snowcovered so as to break open a sunflower seed.

Debbie,

I have been getting error messages lately on some blogs too. I haven’t changed any settings on my blog to warrant that error. I
When I get an error message for a comment on someone’s blog, I copy my comment and go out of that blog and enter again. I paste the comment back in and it is always accepted. Twice the work though.

Spectacular beauty in the fog and frosty views.
I especially like that first one and the one of the windblown tree.
They are definite wall hangers.

I've never been to the beach when you can't see the horizon. It seems a little eerie. I love the picture of the rocks reflecting in the water! And the ducks are so cute. :-)

Excellent job of documenting the winter scene at the boardwalk. Peaceful is the key word.

always windy on P.E.I.? Try the prairies. Flat open country and the wind doesn't have anything to slow it down.

Looking at these shots, I was imagining them as jigsaw puzzles...and how much of a challenge that would be.

It does appear to be rather gray. That is how Misty (cat) got her name. She is gray, which when naming her I thought of the gray of a river and how it usually looks not only gray but Misty.....She became Misty River. Love the pics and being about to see places around the world with my blogging friends.

Gorgeous photos, Marie. The disappearing horizon can leave one straining to see it in the distance. Fog has a magic all its own.

Stillness has loud voice indeed in these beautiful images dear Marie :)

I am glad you found a windless day out to explore natural beauty present during winter season.

Seems like it can take sun a while to show up.

Your heading photo is exceptional!!!!!!
Hugs and blessings
