We had a terrible storm last week which covered much of eastern North America over several days. Afterwards, it took our city three days to clear a path on the boardwalk so we missed some time outdoors. However, when we did walk there, the setting did not disappoint. Our first day back, the clouds winked at us.
Bands of blue cloud in an overcast sky have come to signal that bad weather is on the horizon. The day before the storm, the sky foretold what was to come. Watching the sky is a winter pass time now.
One day, two crows in conversation in an old tree, made me stop and listen. They were happy to have walkers back on the boardwalk for some easy snacks.
Three kites took boarders along the bay in the breeze that day.
Finally, this past week, we saw one of the neighbourhood foxes as it hunted one morning, crossing through the back yard. It stopped briefly under our oak tree before heading out as I photographed it through the kitchen window.
In a world which is more dangerous by the day, I wish you some peace of mind in your life this week.

Hello Marie,
I love the first scene and sky photo. The kite boarders look like they are having fun. Love the ducks and the cute fox. Beautiful winter photos. Take care, enjoy your day and happy 1st week of March.
Thank you, and wishing peace of mind and life to you too.
I hope those kiters were well wrapped up. Chilly to land on that ice.
Those kite boarders have to be in excellent physical condition, it looks like they use every muscle in their bodies.
Clouds are so interesting and very telling. I love watching them and that you found a cloud winking at you!
Kiters must be so fun to watch & photograph. Have a wonderful first week of March.
Kite-boarding looks so exciting! I'd never try it, of course.
I love listening to crows converse. They make such an interesting variety of sounds. That storm was a doozy! What a winter you've had! And here, on our island, we've had one of the mildest winters ever. Enjoy your week!

Apparently, we are due for significant thawing. I hope you are too.
It's been a tough winter, hasn't it? Cold today but should be warmer later in the week. Love the photo of the fox. I have been seeing fox footprints in the snow but not the actual fox. He's hiding!
Beautiful scenery, pretty soon the snow and ice will just be a memory until next winter of course. :) Great shots of the kite surfers, nice but not for me. :)
Dear Marie, every single photo is absolutely stunning! You have made my day, dear friend. Thank you so much for sharing.
We missed that storm thankfully. It stayed far south of us. Your pictures are lovely as always.

I loved these photos Marie, beautiful snow images. I enjoyed seeing the birds, and the action shots of the kite snow borders. The icing on the cake for me would be the fox. Thank you for the sentiment at the end of your post. I wish you the same :)
We find peace and peaceful situations. Much of the world doesn't have that option.
Wow look at those kiteboarders.. Lovely photos.
I have never heard of kite-boarding! I bet it will soon be an Olympic sport.
I try hard to immerse myself in work, and in beauty. Itthe only way I can keep grounded and sane in this increasingly insane world .
I just love the Fox photos. I've always wanted to pet one to feel the texture of its fur. Needless to say, that will probably never happen. I had not thought about what the ducks do when the water is all frozen. Hum. I'll have to Google it. LOL
you paint such beautiful pictures with your words. the only thing better are the images themselves. as you know, the storm had a huge impact on our area as well and kept us indoors. i think we appreciate getting outdoors more after such a storm. the clouds sure did wink at you!!
Glad you are able to get out and about again. I expect the wildlife are happy too. B x
Kite boarding isn’t a sport that I had heard of either, Marie. Thanks for the photos of what looks like a somewhat dangerous activity. I know the wildlife was glad folks were able to get out after the storm and the walkways were cleared.
Marie- It does certainly look like a winter wonderland. I know a lot of places on the east coast got clobbered. Glad you were finally able to get out. Love seeing the fox.
I've never seen kite boarders on the ice, though we do see them over a sheltered bay on Lake Huron. We think we've had fox tracks across our back deck.
Thank you Marie for your thoughts for a renewed peace of mind in this weary world.
I love all of your photos but especially the red fox and the kite boarders.
The cloud winking at me is terrific!
Glad the storm is past and the snow will hopefully began to melt into Spring.
Sue
What a wonderful series of photos! Funny ducks skating on the ices. :) The kite-boarders are amazing. I think it would be fun though I suspect I wouldn't have the strength to do it.
Here's hoping spring starts in earnest soon.
Does look like the perfect day for winter sports and games. Now...let's start moving towards spring and warmer weather!:) Cute fox!!
Dear Marie 🥰
Your first photo has something really appealing I can’t explain 🤗
Sorry for the storm my friend, your’s passed at least but one here in the form of war is going to stay for long I think ☹️😞
Your sharing felt so beautiful and uplifting today, nature had immense healing energy undoubtedly, cozy like lap of mother no matter what is the season or weather, just a glance feels like a therapy to senses 🥹
Bird shot is so pretty 😊👍
Glad you found some outdoor time after storm
🙏♥️
Looks like Spring is there for you judging by the wind surfers, hopefully everything is thawing out.
I had no idea one can kiteboard on snow. Amazing!
I loved the photos of the kites! That must be a really fun activity. You know, for people whose joints still work. :-)
I love the photo of the fox.
I'd never heard of kite boarding before. People that go out and do things in that kind of cold are a lot tougher than I am!
Marie you certainly caught the clouds winking in your first photo - wow just beautiful. I know you folks certainly got hit harder than we did. Just a bit of light snow and then a real warm up. Friday my car read that it was 75 degrees - today in the 50's but sunny. The skunks are out and about making walking the field with the dogs challenging...that is certainly a sign that spring is here or at least on its way. Adore your photo of the red fox...such beautiful animals. Take care and hope you see winter waning this week and spring starting. Hugs!
They look like they're having fun! Love the shot of the fox. Wishing you a wonderful new week with lots and lots of good walks and photos.
Just back from some very different weather to this - although we did see snow on the tops of distant mountains.
Let's hope this week brings better world news.

Those clouds really did wink at you!! hahahah
It was a good day to finally go out. And how productive it was !
