Sea sculpture

Thunder Cove on the north shore of Prince Edward Island is a place of wonder. A sandy beach stretches out before you

 

and at low tide, beach goers are washed in the gentle waves as they venture onto the sand bars. 

 

Of course, the waves are not always gentle.

Part of the shoreline is lined with Marram grass-covered sand dunes. 

 

However, the shoreline is elevated along a major portion of this coastline and cliffs consist of layers of sand and sandstone.

 

The sea has eroded this shoreline by its tidal action plus high seas and created curious sea sculptures.

 

There are numerous caves 

 

and holes at sea level,

 

sea arches

 

and sea stacks.

There is something beautiful but unusual about the area,

 

as if you were transported to a red planet. The sand in the formations is obvious in areas close to the shoreline, 

 

while in the cliff face, the sand has turned to stone.

 

The rock falls,

 

cliffs and formations make a sea sculpted world which leaves one awestruck!
