We parked by the harbour in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, to observe the fireball in the sky as it settled below the sea.
The ice on the harbour, formed in the last few days, was visible because of the last rays of sunlight.
As the sun disappeared, the bank of clouds advanced in an effort to cover the entire harbour. Twilight held onto its colour as the threat of an impending storm gathered.
We paused and took in the beauty.
As the sun sets on 2016, I wish you a New Year filled with health, peace and contentment.

Beautiful pictures! You are so lucky to live by all of this! Andrea
What a view from your car.
Thanks for sharing the end of a very fine day. We've got one more day after this one in a year I'm glad to say goodbye to. :-)
a very lovely sunset! Thanks for capturing it for us!
Beautiful pictures. May tomorrow be as lovely.
Your home is so beautiful. You know it's cold when the ice is on a salt water harbor. My husband used to talk about that in his former home in northern Norway.
Just glorious. Sunrise/sets are set off beautifully by water - and the ice just adds to it.
Thank you so much.
I hope the coming year(s) are full of love and laughter for you and yours.
We love this island, Andrea.
It is a great place to view the sunset this time of year, AC.
I know, Jan. It's been a rough year!

Best wishes for 2017, Marie!
Thank you Marie. Goodwill and Peace to you too. One can only pray the idiot about to be sworn in as President does not start yet another war.
Happy times to you and your family in 2017! Perhaps I'll make it to PEI this year?????
Damp cold too, Tabor! Cuts through to the bone.
You too, Debra.

Glad that end of the day you were able to see the sun coming out of clouds friend!
in such coldness this kind of experience is like big blessing.
i am truly captivated by these magical photos that took me to the moment of serenity and peace which you felt in the environment where air left snowy land in solitude and self revealing mode !
Blessings!
