It’s been almost three weeks since I posted and another year has begun. We had a green Christmas for the most part in Summerside. The snow we had before Christmas disappeared with torrential rain and warmer temperatures. Now it’s back again and so is the cold.
My husband and I had a great Christmas with our daughter and the kids after a reminder of how quickly life can change. We woke Christmas morning to the youngest grandchild, Owen, as limp as a rag doll.
Our daughter, a nurse, rushed him to the hospital where they determined he was fighting a virus and had low blood sugar. A day and a half later, after iv fluids, they were home again to celebrate Christmas. It was a scary time for everyone, even his two young sisters.
I am usually aware of living in the moment, not taking experiences for granted. My husband and I, as seniors, don’t expect to live as long as the younger members of our family. However, Christmas morning was a reminder of the fragile thread which holds each of us to this planet, regardless of age.
Each moment is a precious gift to be savoured. May we all enjoy the gift of 2019.
P.S. Thank you for the suggestions regarding my problems with Blogspot. While everything is still not perfect, I had the most success when I turned off Google+ as suggested by The Happy Whisk, https://www.thehappywhisk.com/.

Good for Owen, and good that the doctors and nurses were able to get him back in fine form. What a way to spend Christmas Day.
I just checked my settings, and I do have Google+ comments off. I understand Google's going to be doing away with that element entirely.
Ohhh, Little Owen. Glad they got him up and running again. Agreed about life. It's fragile. Glad you got your blog working a little better than before. Great to see you posting. I tell you, I can't wait for the to shut down G+ all the way. And, I used to love it (back in the day). Anyway, thanks for the shout out, here's to Owen and your family. Happy Christmas.
I love the photograph and just so pleased everything turned out well.
My good wishes for 2019.
All the best Jan
I too am very glad to hear that Owen is okay. He sure is a cutie! And welcome back, I look forward to spending 2019 with my blog friends all over the world. Your posts about PEI have been fascinating to me. :-)
Welcome back Marie. What a fright you all must have got, so pleased all was well in the end. My husband and I were just talking today about the very same thing, every moment should be treated as precious ✨
Poor little pumpkin. So glad everything is ok.
I love the way you seem to be present and take in the beauty around you. It's why I started following your blog in the first place.
Happy 2019....all the best to you and yours.
A health scare is such a reality check! A show stopper. A heart breaker. Wonderful he is back to OK, none the worse and probably currently oblivious. Happy New Year.
That's a nasty scare to have on Christmas morning. So pleased to hear he's OK now.
So happy Owen is okay now. How scary! Hugs for the little guy.
Your snow is beautiful but I'm glad it's not here yet.
What a scare with little Owen! Glad he's okay.
Welcome back. Life is indeed fragile. I am so glad that Owen is better. I suspect he bounced back rather quicker than you or I would.
I am also very glad that turning off Google+ worked for you. Yay Ivy.
So glad to hear Owen is ok. that is a frightened thought when something like that can happen so fast. Glad to see you again. I deleted my google+ account, I never used it anyway.
Enjoy the new year Marie!
That would have been sobering for you, but I'm glad he's back to normal.
It has been awhile since you posted, but it is winter, and this is Canada.
OMG, Marie. My heart stopped as I was reading the first lines of this post. I'm so grateful things seem to be working our with your youngest grandchild...but oh my. Having our own g'daughter now, at only 4 months, and remembering how tenuous her life was at one week after being born, I totally understand the emotions. Life really is a gift, one we usually take for granted.
On another note, I'm so glad you're able to blog again. YAY.
I hope your little lad stays well after that sudden scare. We are so lucky here in Canada that we have medical services we can call on in an emergency. All the best to you and your family for 2019. I've been very lax in posting recently, probably because I haven't done anything really interesting so far this year. Just recovering from Christmas and new Year.
How frightening for all of you . . . I'm so glad your grandson recovered well. Life can change in the blink of an eye and it's not always easy to remember that and act on it, so we can all benefit from the reminder.
I'm glad Ivy was able to help you with your blogging issue!
Gosh that must heve been scary. Yes, life regarless of age is ony here for a short time really. Take care Diane
Glad your cute grandson recovered! Yes life is precious and you never know what a day will bring! Our weather sounds similar to what you had and now have! Andrea
