People from many locations in the Northern Hemisphere are writing about buds, blossoms, blooms, garden work, planting vegetables and flowers. Those spring events are almost two months away for us in eastern Canada. In the mornings this week on the island of Prince Edward, we have been greeted with snow, not a lot, but enough to cover lawns, trees and roadsides.
It disappears during the day but its presence can be disheartening.
My husband and I are taking our usual walks along the boardwalk since our favourite hiking trails are still covered with ice and snow. After snow the previous night,
the wind was missing on Wednesday as the snow began to fall gently around us. The birds were singing in the trees and the red-winged blackbirds were not as shy around walkers as they had been in previous weeks.
Although we are a long way from the traditional signs of spring, Wednesday morning in the snow was perfect.

As much as we tire of snow, it adds something to the very dull April landscape.
So different from our burgeoning spring. I look forward to seeing what it looks like up there once spring does arrive. :-)
Wishing you springtime. Someone needs to tell Mother Nature that it’s April.
Especially love picture #2. Beckons me to take a walk on a chilly afternoon.
Hello,
I have heard about recent snow storms. It seems winter is never ending. Your walk looks pretty though, even with the snow. Enjoy your day! Have a great weekend!
Yesterday, we had early morning snow here in west Michigan. At the end of the day it was gone. An April snow is typical.
Lovely photos, the white stuff really is pretty even though we may tire of it. Blooms with rain and flood warnings here, well, we wished the snow would melt. I promised myself this year I'd quit complaining about the weather.
I do hope spring will arrive and be nice to you all on PEI. At least the snow is disappearing faster now with warmer temps coming during the day.
Your spring is as beautiful in it's own way as is ours.
A dusting of snow is so pretty Marie, and the no shovelling would be better to ✨ Happy weekend.
It snowed in Calgary yesterday but so far Edmonton has been spared any April snow. I hope that continues!
Your 'very almost' Spring has a beauty and charm of its own. It must feel wonderful to be able to at least walk the boardwalks again.
April snows are to be expected. We got the same system here.
Two months to spring ?
oh this is sad but it will be here finally so stay optimistic like always my dear Marie!
i have always loved your wise ,touching sharing and beautiful walks :)
these after snow shots are gorgeous
wind mostly stops before storm or rain here either
loved the black birds ,almost same looking birds with slight yellow shade in black we have here and they also are not much shy until crows make the frightened
I know how you feel as we have had snow too, and I don't think it should be allowed in April! April means SPRING!!! Well, sometimes it takes a while to get moving.
We count red winged blackbirds as our first sign of spring.
Any bird flying around is a good sign that the weather will turn to better. I don't mind Winter but if it's stay too long it feels like unwanted guests over staying their welcome!
I don't mind our spring snows because they cover up the drabness. But they can be hard for animals. The first flowering bushes will be out here in northern NS in about one month. I didn't realize there was an even longer lag for PEI. My crocuses and irises are coming up, but they are in a protected southerly location, a mini-climate that allows them to be early.
I'll have to watch for red-winged blackbirds here - I didn't know they lived on the east coast. Perhaps they are just in PEI, not NS. But it's something to look for!
Great lines of traffic are here coming to the beaches now. Tho the sun is out, the days are still chilly. Unusually, the weather folks mention that it is going to be in the 80's tomorrow inland.
I have to say I always liked walking in the snow - and when I see these pictures I can tell why. People who dont like snow have less fun, but the same amount of snow!

Wow. I have never seen a red-winged blackbird. They are great with that little bit of color. I do love birds.
it was 80 degrees yesterday, i think we skipped spring!!!
the snow looks pretty, i have always enjoyed walking in the snow!! and that is a beautiful capture of the redwing black bird!!!
Even with the snow your walk looks pretty.
All the best Jan
It rained all day here.
I am not sure if I should change my snow tires this week or wait another week...
: )
Oh, I hope the snow melts quickly and you enjoy warmer temps.
