Since my husband and I are back on the trails and beaches again, we see some unusual or interesting things along the way. On a recent trip to the Bonshaw Hills Park, a new bike station caught our eyes.
The trials are frequented by mountain bikers and this station, with the hooks for holding the bike at eye level and the tools attached from strings would be helpful to any biker experiencing trouble.
At a cottage at Yankee Hill, near the New London Lighthouse, someone has collected the buoys washed ashore along the beach and gathered them along the driveway. They make a nice decoration, a great way to recycle and keep the beach clean.
This old metal piece is a curiosity hung from a tree along the boardwalk at North Rustico. Is it a symbol? Does anyone have any idea what is it or what it symbolizes?
Also at North Rustico, on a quiet Sunday morning, a man driving a ride-on mower pulled two young children in a cart along the road. The three were thoroughly enjoying the ride.
Closer to home, as I was cleaning windows recently, a Canadian Forces air craft flew over doing manoeuvres as they do periodically in the skies over Summerside.
As I looked on, paratroopers released from the belly of the aircraft, floated down to earth. There wasn’t much free fall before the chutes deployed and it looked like a gentle descent.
It made me think of Jan, a fellow blogger at
who was a skydiver for years. I could only imagine that feeling of floating through the air as I watched, then turned back to cleaning windows.
Sigh…

I spent some time wondering about that parachutist and what he/she was doing. That's not a very large chute, so it was probably an experienced skydiver, but most of us really like the freefall, which this person didn't get much of at all. Thanks for the shoutout, Marie!
A cornucopia of varied photos today! I hope your back is much better than it was. Will you be back to cycling soon? Or is walking the main activity now?
Hello,
It is nice to be out walking and enjoying all the sights. Neat capture of the skydiver. The kiddies probably loved riding in the cart with their dad.
Take care, have a great day!
I'm hoping someone knows the significance if any of that metal piece. I wonder if it was originally on the side of a barn?
What a wonderful invention.... something to hold a bike, at eye level... no bending down!
Perhaps that rusted "thing," is some sort of a medical symbol?
Ahhh yes, the feeling of free-fall and then, held by a parachute, must be amazing. :-)

I don't have any idea about the symbol sorry. What a special treat to actually see the parrot troopers drop from the plane. Interesting!!
Thank you for sharing some of the wonders you have seen recently. And yes, I always think of DJan when I see parachutists (in peace time).
Cleaning windows? Shudder. Something I/we need to focus on. Soon.
Oh the interesting things one can see when taking the time to look around.
It doesn't surprise me at all that you would like to be up there free-falling to earth ... you always seem open to new things and I love that you pass them on to us !
Could the ornament on the tree be a symbol of some long ago group that met there ...maybe with the initials A and C.
No thanks, you will never catch me jumping out of an airplane! That was an interesting iron object, wonder what it is!
A nice post. My brother in law used to pull the grands around in the tractor cart. They loved it.
I've seen them do that kind of low altitude training.
I think that's a Hercules and I've wanted a ride in one of them since they first started flying.
When I was young sky diving might of interest me. Now it a different story.
Coffee is on and stay safe
Jan was quite the skydiver in her time. I imagine that it is exhilarating. Washing windows is not although the end result can be satisfying.
The once upon a time daredevil in me wanted to jump from a plane, do sky diving and zip line, instead I got married and had kids. That was a challenge all on its own! Later when I could afford those things my body was in such wicked shape that it has not happened.. There are a lot of buoys. Can you just image what is floating around in the ocean that never washes up? Looks cool wrapped around as art at the light house.
Floating through the air, an adventure, but not for me. When I was younger, I was much braver. Now I just want to leave this world in a more normal fashion!
I wonder what day you were at Bonshaw? On our first walk in Downtown Charlottetown, I spotted a 'sculpture' come 'garden light' made of up-turned blue bottles.
bike trails sound so appealing dear Marie .nice to have stuff around helpful for bikers in trouble .
i enjoyed the beauty and vibration of the area today ,seasonal glories seems to on it's peak :)
oh wow you were able to catch some amazing photos while cleaning the windows , must be thrilling experience to even watch a sky diver floating in the sky :)
how amazing one of your friend does skydiving since years !
best wishes for days ahead my friend
Interesting post from beginning to end but am so curious about the iron thing. I think the bottom part looks like it was made to dig into something but have no idea what. I am so curious. If you ever find out, do another post on it.
Miriam and I remember that bike station at Bonshaw - a great park and one that we really enjoyed.
I love the idea of floating down through the air. It's just the jumping out of the plane that terrifies me!
Those bike stations are appearing around here too. Makes sense as they're on a bike track.
I bet the children loved that ride.

Re: your comment... How delightful to know, that you would have enjoyed watching Jose win the Preakness. :-)

Skydiving terrifies me, I wouldn't dare to open my eyes.
When I saw that repair station, I thought it was a recharging station for ebikes. Hahaha.
