Last week was wild, weather-wise at least, with several windy wet days, some of which kept us in the house. The annual Hallowe’en celebration was delayed for a day but even then, the wind was howling. At least it didn’t rain on the children that evening.
My husband and I enjoyed the local Rotary Trail early last week, where exposed areas had already lost most of their leaves.
Yet, in more protected areas, some leaves held on and were stunning.
two ice surfaces, a bowling alley and gym, conference rooms and more. We walk the track on occasion but prefer walking outdoors when at all possible.
The last several weeks, my husband and I have walked at least one day per week on a trail with some elevation to help improve our cardio health.
Last week we returned to Tyne Valley to a trail we did last spring. We both saw an improvement in our performance on that trail so our efforts appear to be paying off.
That day at Tyne Valley was sunny and our walk along the river trail was a beautiful combination of October leaves and November branches as seen in this photo.
The leaf-covered trail was crunchy under foot and as we walked, some of the last leafy hold-outs fell around us. It was a treat for the senses as sight, sound and smell of the autumn forest all came together.
Along that shoreline, the rose bushes and other shrubs are colourful for another week or two,

That makes me want to go ice skating!
These are all so gorgeous. I had forgotten what a beautiful area you live in. Keep up the good work with the cardio!
What a great shot of those brilliant yellow maole leaves among the more reddish-brownish fallen leaves!
Hello Marie,
Happy November to you! Your post is lovely with all the beautiful Autumn colors. The leaves are so colorful. Nice walk, I prefer walking outdoors. The indoor walking track does look nice on those bad weather days. Love the Eagles and the ducks, great sightings. Have a great day and a happy week ahead.
I wish that our arena had those kinds of amenities. We don't even have a mall to walk in.
So much lovelier to walk outdoors. Especially in such a beautiful place. I think we're both fortunate to live in such wonderful areas.
I dont think it would enjoy that indoor track. Looks so cold and sterile! But I understand why you go there at times. The trails you walk are so beautiful, as is that majestic eagle. What a blessing to see him regularly.
i have had such a huge flurry of blue jays lately, and they are fighting over the seeds i provide!! the fall colors there are so beautiful, "natures free decorations"!! i don't think i see gadwall's here, i will be on the lookout, it is a pretty duck. of course seeing the eagle was a thrill for me...they are here, but i never seem to have the opportunity to photograph them!! nice to see you today, have a great week!!
We got some of that crazy wind and rain as well.. it was very intense. We had many fallen branches to clean up afterwards.
You've enjoyed fall by getting out. There's much to see smell and feel during fall.
The cute chipmunk and this magnificent bald eagle are wonderful to look at, as is the handsome blue jay.
Hiking outdoors is good for body and soul. And it's always good to work on yourself, especially when it starts to get challenging, because that's when most people stop.
Congratulations on your progress.
As always, I enjoyed seeing your beautiful environment. I look forward to my visits to your island. Great shot of that eagle!
Beautiful Fall Trails!! Glad you are getting out to enjoy them when weather allows.
And You Have A Great Week Ahead - Amazing Colors For Sure - Pleases Me When You & The Hubby Are Enjoying Time Together
Big Hugs ,
Cheers
I do like your scenery and autumn colours. i'm not sure if ice skating is still a popular thing here but i use to go often with friends. The rinks are only in the cities though.
That is just what I need to tell myself, walk, walk, walk, and one day a week, somewhere so I have to huff and puff. LOL....Looks like you have lost a lot of leaves but more to go.
You had wild weather and we had wild weather, but ours was hot and stormy. Families trick and treating had to wait for the storm to pass. You have golden colours to enjoy. Thankfully our browns are now lush greens again. I've seen and heard many wonderful birds this past week but none like yours. Another wonderful visit to PEI and Summerside.
How cool is that, that they have a walking track inside. Neato. Rain here took many of the leaves in the wake. That's okay though. Up next, spooky winter trees and frozen things to shoot macro. Sign me up.
Hello Marie :)
Thanks for passing by and leaving a comment. Our weather has been wet and very windy so I have not been walking, not that I ever walk far because of my knee. but I enjoyed looking at the photos of the colourful autumn trails you walked, and seeing the creatures you saw. Have a great week.
All the best
Sonjia.
Most of our trees are pretty bare
Walking indoors just doesn’t seem appealing to me. I have never done it, but I know that mall walking is quite popular here. Shopping malls in general are akin to the gates of Hell to me, so I can’t imagine walking round and round in one, especially around this time of year when that sickly impersonation of Christmas music is piped in, and endlessly repeats.
Your photos scream fall and are so beautiful. It's great to have an indoor walking alternative for bad weather. I am always in awe with bald eagles. I have yet to see one in the wild.
I agree Marie...walking indoors is just not the same as being outside. Your pictures keep a wonderful record of the changes the season brings. I adore the blue sky reflected in the water. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Hugs!
What lovely photos and great story-telling! Surprised you seem to find a Bald Eagle to photograph everywhere you go. And you have some nice trails besides your usual one. I'd love a walking track, but sadly nothing here. Beautiful fall colours.
Lovely to see autumn in your corner. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. B x
Wow, beautiful fall colors. Great captures of the eagle!
We are finally getting some color here, it is beautiful! It used to be we had full color by the third week in October. These past few years it’s worked its way into November. I don’t mind it, just as long as we get it.
I love going on your walks with you. I can no longer walk in the woods but I feel I am there with you as you write about everything and capture the beauty with your camera. Thanks for visiting my blog.
The Tyne Valley Trail looks absolutely beautiful!
I'm always impressed with how much time you spend outside, even when it's cold.
Dear Marie heartfelt thanks for spectacular walk on beautiful and awesome trails, the elevation walk looks amazing and I feel happy you noticed your progress there 👍🤗
How nice it didn’t rain on children for Halloween day 🙏
Orange isn’t my favourite colour but I wonder how it becomes so special for me during fall season 🥹♥️
Your description of elevation walk
Eagle and bluejays incredible 🤗👍♥️brought so much joy and peace to my senses as well 🥹🙏
It has suddenly become very wintery here and I've had to wear warmer clothes,, today we were all ready for a walk on the sea front and a sudden squall keep us indoors,, may be a walk tomorrow.
I love how you notice all the little details, the leaves, the birds, the squirrels. That Bald Eagle sighting must have been breathtaking.
