Below you can see how the concrete was reinforced with steel to create the spans and deck of the bridge.
This photo is in the public domain on-line.
We took lots of photos and the close-ups of the structure are impressive.
But my favourite photos show the sweep of the bridge over the Strait as it winds to the far shore.
There is a toll on the bridge, as you exit the island. While many complain about this cost, it is a small price to pay for the benefits of this great structure.

What a wonderful bridge! I have learned something today, thanks to you, Marie. :-)
Well, SOMEBODY has to pay for it! Might as well be the ones who use the bridge!
Hello,Marie
The Confederation bridge and the view from the shore are so beautiful. Constructing the bridge was a great result. It expands access to other places and people. It is a priceless value for people.
Have a good weekend.
It is magnificent.
It is a life line really.
Indeed!
It is definitely priceless.
It is surely!
Man alive! If you didn't have a bridge, you'd have to pay a "toll" for taking a ferry. YES, a small price to pay for the convenience. I LOVE the curve of the bridge, which totally adds to its charm!
I remember the bridge being built, and all the controversy at the time, but it's sure a nice drive!
I drove across that bridge once... I was very excited to see it. Didn't drive back to the mainland, I flew.... long story that I won't relate here.
It is a modern wonder of design and engineering I think.
As with all change, there was debate and anxiety. It is a great asset though and a lovely drive.
I was a bit nervous the first time over the bridge but excited too.
