The three year old and her great grandmother were a sight to behold. A playground was the setting on a beautiful but cold, windy day. However, the two were oblivious to the weather, too intent on each other.
The child led the way to each piece of apparatus.
Up the steps she climbed, so proud of her new found ability to navigate the widely spaced rungs.
She had overcome her fear and shouted proudly, "I did it, Nan Nan."
The great grandmother was pleased to catch the child at the bottom of the slide or push her for a start on the swings. Now the child could also pump her legs to continue the swinging after the push. But her greatest pleasure was leading the way as her great grandmother followed a few steps behind. She was not accustomed to leading as her older sister always leads when they are together.
That day, the little one delighted in the full attention of her Nan Nan who was putty in the child's hands.
At one point, the child stopped running, looked around and said, "Come on, Nan Nan," and held out her hand.
Over eighty years separated them, but the hand bridged the decades, making the moments precious.

Grandkids are great. Ours will be showing up in about another hour to await the school bus.
How very sweet! They are both so lucky to have each other for these precious few years. :-)
What strikes me is that both have wonderful hair. I am envious. Very lovely photos, thanks Marie.
That is a wonderful thing to capture, such special times. Sarah x

This is precious Marie! I hope to be a grandma someday if the Lord permits. I have a daughter who has been married for 4 years and so far no children. This is a beautiful post.
