This winter is keeping me inside. The weather has been bitterly cold, then mild, snow alternating with rain. It is icy and dangerous to walk without ice grips. I have several kinds of those but each feels like I’m walking on spikes, so I’ve been confined to the house for the most part.
How does one stay busy at home? Books, movies and exercise have filled some time but I’ve even resorted to housework! I am on the verge of uttering the word ‘bored.’
There are few things in life I hate more than housework. I know, I should be grateful I have a house to work at and I am. However I would rather do anything than clean an oven, wash a floor or dust!
Dusting requires the movement of stuff on tables, counters and mantles. I am glad I don’t like many knick-knacks so there isn’t much to move and dust. However, even great Gran’s vase is getting the critical eye these days.
Meanwhile, I am giving serious consideration to the sentiment below as this winter confinement continues.

You just reminded me that it has been months since I dusted!
Ugh, I'm with you about housework. Dusting sucks!
I hope you are watching some interesting shows and can report on them. I think that Polar Vortex is to blame, and hopefully it will be gone soon. Your post is a reminder to me how lucky I am to live in the Pacific Northwest. :-)
Where did my comment go?
Hello,
I am not a fan of housework. I like the quote, cute one! I am glad I have a treadmill for those super cold days.
I hope you have some warmer weather soon. Have a happy day and a great new week ahead!
It's pretty bitter here again today. Both of my exercise classes were cancelled last week, and I am thinking that tomorrow's may be too.
Just perfect. LOL
That settles it. No more dusting.
I knew there must be a good reason for not dusting. Luckily it's been great for walking here today - cold(ish) but sunny. If I'm not here the house can't get dirty, right?
LOVE that saying.
Dusting is low on my list of preferred chores too.
I am sorry you have cabin fever, and hope you can get outside again. Soon.
I'm a home-body and I work from home so I really love it here but I know that it's not for everyone. I do get the cabin fevers at times but then I just go out and the fever breaks. So .. I'm not help.
Unless you want to pick up a new fun hobby. Those are the best! So fun. Anything strike your fancy?
I had to look up the word dust, I didn't know what it meant. :) Hope you can get back to the normally scheduled program very soon.
I hope you will be able to get out again soon.
All the best Jan
A thankless job that has to be repeated way too often. I skip it as often as I can.
WooHoo!! Made it back onto your blog. I think yours was one of the ones I had problems with - but now with Pop Up Comments ... here I am. Thank you.
Yes, the weather has gotten brutal and with the really really low temps arriving today and for the rest of the week - the only safe place to be is inside. I, however, enjoy indoor pursuits for a few days anyway. Lots of reading and knitting and blogging. Cleaning house? Not so much.
I don't dust often enough.
I saw a meme the other day about getting through the winter without falling. All you have to do is walk like a penguin.
The feeling is mutual on the housecleaning.
Not my favorite thing for sure...
Funny quote about dust too.
I was complaining about cold at 40F...sorry I won't complain any more...
Brrr where you live.
Yes, leave the dusting and do something more exciting. The dust will wait for another day! I spent yesterday cleaning the house, so I had to get outside today even though it was bitter cold.
Oh I totally agree with you Marie.. by the time I get around to dusting my husband and I can leave messages for each other on the sideboard 😀 Hopefully spring will be along before long and your walks will continue ✨
ooooh girl, i am so with you!! i read a funny saying once "dusted once, it came back - i'm not falling for that again"!!!
i am cleaning out my kitchen cabinets, a few each day. i would rather have someone stick pins in my eyes!!
I love that quote (and Debbie's too) - dusting is one of my least favourite chores also :) Stay warm and safe, Marie. Once we get through February (short month!!) spring will be right around the corner.
