Feel good story

If the sun is cloud covered, it looks like perpetual twilight every winter here on the east coast of Canada. Add the wind and it’s enough to keep me inside. However sun on a calm day changes everything. That bright ball in the sky which eludes us so much this time of year, has a profound effect on how I feel.

Add the sun and I want to go outside for a walk, take photos or walk among the shops downtown. Even the wind isn’t a complete deterrent on a sunny day.

The sun on your face on a calm day is welcome after so much time indoors. Warm coats, hats and mitts mean your face is the only area exposed. The light makes you reluctant to go indoors again though, wanting to capture just a few more rays.

Even if you don’t venture out, a sunny day warms the house. An armchair near the window is a perfect place to read a book in the warm embrace of the sun. Just a few more months and a beach chair will replace the armchair and a breeze will cool off that intense heat. That’s to come. For now, the warmth of the sun shining through the window is almost perfect. Even the wind doesn’t matter here though you can hear the gusts hitting the house.

In the car, even the necessity to use a visor against the sun is welcome compared to the alternative. There is a sense of elation which comes from a drive through the country on a sunny day, even in winter.

Soon the sun will melt all the snow and ice, soil will warm and embrace seeds for various crops. Again the balance of sun and rain will be crucial.

For now though, those rare perfect calm sunny days of March keep us looking ahead to the next one and the next, until the sun returns with its spring and summer heat and light. For now, we absorb when we can and feel good.

Hello,

The sunshine makes me happy! I am glad we will be changing the clocks this weekend, looking forward to longer day of sunshine. This week we have temps in the low 20's to the single digits, winter is not over yet. Happy Monday, enjoy your day! Wishing you a great new week ahead!

I think wind is my biggest hate. I do not like the cold but without the wind, to a degree, I can cope. Wind just finishes me off. Keep warm Diane.

Agree. Apaprentl;y, it's very cold today, but the sun is bright, and it helps.

Here in west Michigan, we know that feeling well. Lake Michigan moderates our weather, but it wraps us in a quilt of winter overcast.

I used to hate the wind but then worked for four years with a young man with learning difficulties who just loved it and would be in a good mod all day after a short walk on a windy morning. Gradually I leaned to like it too - just one of the many things he taught me!

You've pretty well covered all my thoughts about sun and sunshine and warm days and warm car interiors.

Yes, I agree. When the sun shines on winter white, it changes my world completely. After 2 days of snow, it's finally shining.

I totally agree with you. Love every little bit of sunshine! Most of the time I don't mind Winter but lately it's testing my patience. I got all excited to go to town today. We drive 45 minutes to get to a grocery store. After looking outside I could see that wasn't going to happen. It has been blowing snow. I heard that there are drifts in the highway, not soft drifts but hard lumps. So indoors again!

Beautifully written. We had tornadoes nearby yesterday but the skies are clear today. We enjoyed a ride in the sunshine to visit an antique store. Just felt good to be out and about. Have a nice week.

Bitter cold breeze outside, but that sun is so warming spiritually.

Today it's sunny here, with cool temperatures, which is to be expected.

Lots of sun and plenty of north wind that takes all the fun out of it. Today it's calmed down to a light breeze and that makes all the difference. Love this post. :-)

I couldn't agree more Marie. We are having a last hurrah of summer over the last few days, hot and humid. I'm very much looking forward to a day like you have described here ✨

You wax poetic Marie. A lovely post and I agree.

I am ready for spring. We have had so much nuisance snow. What I really like is a good long snow storm that leaves about a foot for us to enjoy. But what we have gotten has been slushy, 2 or 3 inches almost every weekend. I am pretty much done with it.

i am really starting to think about spring!!!

The sun and warmth are what is missing here. On the rare sunny days, we are in a deep freeze. Maybe it is finally warming up now. I hope it is for all of us.

How poetically you described the whole scenario of changes in weather dear Marie!

it made me feel as i was there in indoor readings and outdoor walks :)

we live in area where sun shines most time of the year with all it's cruelty ,our extreme summers start from mid april and last till mid November

Still our relation to sun is really spiritual !

we are fond of his all kinds of presence :)

it's rays not only brighten our surroundings but untie our soul to feel FREE and Light

i am so glad you are enjoying each move of weather my friend!

So Life Is precious gift!
