These days, my husband and I are on the boardwalk any day the weather permits. Since we are not seeing our grandchildren, family or friends, except via technology, the outdoors and exercise are more important than ever.
Since pandemic isolation keeps us physically away from others, keeping up with fellow bloggers is important too. The signs of spring in your blogs are spectacular as bulbs erupt and bloom and trees blossom. Even the autumn looks of Australia and New Zealand are filled with colour. As we walk here, we look for signs of spring around us, though they don’t involve colour. Here, disappearing ice and snow signal spring. These photos were taken just over a week in time. They show the melting ice, shifting and thinning sea ice and melting snow.
From the bridge, looking out to the harbour,
the snow covered ice gave way to clear ice
which then melted.
When it’s windy, the sea ice moves around. The Northumberland Strait
which was full of ice a few days ago is now open, with ice predominantly along the shoreline of the island.
Along the walkway,
the snow is disappearing as well.
While there aren’t any blossoms or blooms, our time in the spring air as the temperature rises gives us hope for the colour to come and the end of the pandemic.

The huge pile of snow on our lawn, from clearing the driveway, is close to being gone. This is actually a little early for it, and it is not so much due to warm weather as to wet weather.

My husband happened to walk by and saw your pictures. He stopped to see the rest of them and is very envious of your snow. I think you have more in the "beginning to melt" phase than we had all winter. Not that I'm complaining about that! Our high today is supposed to be around 82 degrees, and is supposed to be a record for us. I'm enjoying the sunshine.
Love your walks, something I need to do more often. The snow is receding and then new growth will begin to rise.
It's wonderful to see the snow disappearing isn't it? It means that spring is on the way. But we need a gentle spring, no big rainfalls and no big snowstorms. Just glide gently into warmer weather.

I remember these sorts of pictures a year ago. Hard to believe we've had a trip around the sun.
For those of us who are able to get outside it is really important to do so. The change of scenery and the sense of not being confined is really significant to our well-being I find. My wife and I had a glorious walk around a local lake yesterday, and were easily able to maintain social distancing from others (not many I must say) who were doing the same thing,
Must be wonderful to see the first signs of melting snow Marie, although looking at it through eyes that are so tired of hot weather it look pretty gorgeous :) I don't think it will be long before you see the more colourful signs of spring.
Our world looks alot like yours (except no sea!). We got a bit more snow overnight. It's lovely that you can walk for exercise. We continue to get outside, too. It's quiet now in our neighborhood and town.

The land is awakening...and I am glad. I just hope we don't get a hard freeze now. I enjoyed your photos...cannot imagine living where it still looks like that.
gorgeous captures marie, i really enjoyed all of them!! we are on lockdown here in new jersey, i don't think we are allowed to leave the house. we have gone for a few rides in the car but i always feel guilty. we are going to do some yard work tomorrow, fresh air without the guilt!!

We never had snow this year. I love snow. And ... still ... spring is on its way here and it can't come soon enough.

Wow! It's amazing to see, especially the sea ice. That is so impressive.
We have had wonderful autumn weather here - which makes it harder to stay home (some people have not!) - but I am grateful to have a garden to sit in.
I hope that in some small way our community of blogs helps people in these crazy times.
