One day last week we planned a hike and a picnic but the wind was too high for picnicking. Instead we decided to walk the Rotary Friendship Trail again and keep our picnic for another day.
Usually when the wind is high, you can’t feel its effect when you’re among the trees.
However on this day, the wind gusted to 50 km/h and there were times when the trees danced all around us. As we slowly walked in the green glow of the tunnel-like trails, we paused periodically to look and listen. There is a fifteen second video here.
We noticed the trunk of one tree, broken from a main trunk and hanging by its leafy branches caught high among other trees.
It must have broken recently since the leaves above looked as healthy as those on any of the trees. It was an unusual sight.
Walking these trials is always good for the spirit. On a windy day, we feel an extra layer of amazement for the beauty and power of nature.

I love walking in the forest, too, but when the wind gets really high like that, we usually change our destination to one with more open places. Lovely pictures! :-)
Around here walking near trees is definitely out. That broken branch is a common sight, sometimes one entire side of a tree hanging among the foliage.
So I'm glad to experience it via video instead.

I love your green canopy. Being among trees in high winds is something I find scary - I think because it was drummed into us so much as children not to go near the eucalyptus trees in the wind as they would 'drop' branches without warning.
Hi Marie! We get strong breezes every afternoon. As long as too much doesn't blow into the pool, it's okay by me. :)

It's been gusty here too, which is a bit unusual for this time of year. It sure raises havoc with my allergies.

Even in that glorious green shelter the noise of the wind was strong. Thank you.
Like cats and small children windy makes me antsy but I thoroughly enjoyed (again) walking with you.

The sound of the wind in the trees adds to the beauty.

Oh, it has been incredibly windy here as well. Our peonies and other flowers are on the ground not to mention that the front and back yards gets full of broken branches and twigs. Beautiful photos Marie! Hope you get to do a picnic later on. Yes to go outdoors keeps us sane and happier. We have been taking walks around here as well since we can't attend the gym.
Looking at your first still, wonderful image, I didn't begin to imagine the noise and strength of the wind. Thanks for the video.It would have been a very rewarding an invigorating walk.

walking among whisperer of wind and beauty of woods must be spiritual experience :)
