With the boy

When my husband and I have an opportunity for time alone with either of our three grandchildren, we are delighted. Our daughter went to have the second Covid injection in Charlottetown recently, so we had our grandson for a few hours while the girls were in school. Yippee!

Hide and seek is always on the agenda when the little guy visits. When we bought our home, our daughter was pregnant with our first grandchild and we noticed how the circle around the main floor would be perfect for a child to run around. It’s great for adults too though. There are interesting corners and closets in which to hide and pop out from. We enjoy our home with the children.

With our grandson, the toys come out, some used by his mother many years ago, others given to us by a neighbour when her children outgrew them. A farm, a tea set, a tractor and animals, all make an appearance. Two toy solders his grandfather had as a child often march around. Books and games have their turn. The three year old also enjoys puzzles now. Then while we prepared lunch he played alone which he also enjoys.

After lunch it was time for camping. Blankets, chairs and pillows make a tent for him and me as we pretend to roast marshmallows, have tea, play with the tractor and go to sleep. We repeated the five minute long day numerous times. A monster of his imagination outside the tent kept us inside where we were safe. Every night ended with a song and, “I love you,” from each of us.

We finished the day with a hug and he left laughing and happy. We were too.

How wonderful it must be to see your grandson play with some of the toys of your youth and your daughter's youth!

Your daughter has had her 2nd vaccine injection! Does she have a particular kind of a job? Or is just everyone getting them?

And you?????

Beside a babbling Brook,

Our daughter is a nurse in a seniors’ home. All care staff have been vaccinated and residents will be finished this month.

My husband and I don’t expect to be vaccinated until this summer.

A new generation gets to play with toys handed down by others, that's great!. Another happy day enjoyed by all at Camp Marie's. :)

Oh this is so precious. A special time that will be in his memories forever.
I love the tent play time and nap time where it's so safe and cozy inside the tent.
I do miss those times when our Grands were young. Now they are 21 and 26....Now Tea times are for real (:0)

That sounds like a wonderful time for you as well as the grandson. He must really look forward to the toys he sees only at your house.

Delightful story. What I miss most is the grandkids. Planning a meet-up in a park soon. You have a wonderful family.

Hi Marie, it is so nice to have individual time with the grandchildren. My grandson loves constructing things with my husband, which gives me time to do craft with my granddaughter, she would craft 24/7 if she could, oh and they both love a tea party 😊 Gosh I miss them both already. Happy New Year to you both ✨

A run around floor plan! My oldest daughter, when she was the only child, had a game she played with the cat. She would chase him around and around on her little two year old legs until he would stop, jump and hit her in the chest. Down she fell, got up and chased him again. This game went on until one of them took a nap.

What a great day and magical adventures and play with the grandson. I would love to see mine, but he currently lives 2,800 miles away.

it's wonderful that you are able to play with him, especially hide and seek. i have kept toys from when my children were young, but i don't think either of my sons are going to have children. no grandma here!!

How lovely! Grandsons are super, I have three of them, and granddaughters are super too, I have a very special one! MY grandies have all played with toys that used to belong to my sons, and now that they are all a bit bigger, I hate to get rid of all the Lego and the Playmobile etc.... perhaps keep it for the great-grandchildren?????

Nothing like spending time with the grandchildren. I remember loving hide and seek as a child; I don't think kids ever tire of it. I too have a garage and some cars that my kids played with and their boys enjoy them too.

tears of gratitude in my eyes dear Marie :)

what a lovely blissful day with your precious grandson ,your painting portrayed by your smooth words captivated my soul for long :) i thing this will stay as best treasure in your memories and in the memories of your precious grandson indeed

pretending while play having meal made me laugh and reminded times when i did same with my friends and then years later with my kids :)

reminded me also best toys ever mom gifted to my first son ,i never saw that type of quality in toys again here ,now plastic toys are cheap but breakable which is annoying
may lord keep showering his grace and blessings upon you and family dear friend ,amen!
best of luck to your daughter with injection !
