A day with friends

A blogging friend and his wife are visiting Prince Edward Island this spring and my husband and I met with them this week at Cavendish. Of course we had a picnic and Cavendish Grove was our meet and lunch location. David and Miriam brought good weather with them from Ontario and without any wind, it was a perfect day for birding.

David has been an avid birder since childhood and Miriam is a skilled birder who takes excellent photos. It was especially nice to spend time in nature with such birding enthusiasts.

The only way the Grove could have been better is if there had been goslings. The Canada Geese were swimming or flying around

and arguing with each other in usual Geese fashion.

Ducks such as Mallards, Gadwalls

and Green-winged Teals dropped in while we watched. The Muskrat swam around the bulrushes and dived for tender shoots.

The National Park is a prime location for Bald Eagles on the island and we often see them when we visit the park. That day was no different and in honour of our visitors, the birds were in fine form. We saw one perched on a stump near the dunes

and two adults and an immature eagle floated overhead on the breeze.

Elsewhere in the park, as per usual, an Osprey flew by.

We saw Golden-crowned Kinglets in a tree, tiny birds which I had never seen before. I didn’t manage a good photo, just a blur of flapping wings as one flew away.

It was a wonderful day with people who enjoy nature as much or more than we do.

P.S.

I am leaving comments on blogs as I have always done and many aren’t posting. What is up with Blogger these days? Is there a fix for this?

Hello, Marie,
It is nice you were able to meet up with David and Miriam. Wonderful captures of the birds. I love the Eagles and the Osprey. Take care, have a great day!

Sounds like the birds all cooperated to wow your blogging buddies! Fun times! I've still got the old comment box too and my comments are down by about 50%. I don't know if people just can't leave comments any more or if the number of bloggers are down, now that people aren't stuck at home because of the pandemic.

That's a great day with like minded birders. Blogger is all over the place again. My comments are sometimes disappearing while I'm still typing. Some people are finding they can't get to a comment screen at all. It's Blogger bloggering about!

Awesome pictures! That is now on our list of things to do when we get there. Thanks again for the advice on things to do and see when we get there!

Love the bird in flight photos. And the arguing goose. Classic.
I confess to being lazy about posting, and thank you!!! for staying positive, on line and giving us such great glimpses of your habitat.

I do love your photos, especially of the eagles.
How fun to have bloggers visit. It sounded like a perfect day.

I don't understand your question... Sorry....... Do you mean that blogging has slowed down?

I do have trouble commenting in one blog, because they go poofffff. So all I can leave is about 1 sentence. -sigh-

Please fill dense me in, on your question meaning.

Glad that your area, tries to save dandilions for the bees. Our up north areas, are more important, for doing this.

My topic today is...😮😯😮😯😮😯😮

What a truly wonderful day - in equally wonderful company. I do envy you, and thank you for sharing.
And yes, blogger is messing with our minds. Again.

We had a great time, Marie. Thanks for good company, a wonderful picnic, good advice and showing us all-round grand PEI hospitality. Our stay on the island continues to bring us great satisfaction. Today at the North Cape we had lots of Common Eiders, Harlequin Ducks, Red-breasted Mergansers and a Merlin. A Yellow Warbler bid us farewell by singing to us.

Looks like the birds were as happy to see you friends as you were.

I love the birding with good friends who brought good sunshine and no wind with them. That bald eagle. My goodness. So stunning.

I find that if my accept all cookies, isn't on, that I cannot leave a comment. I also, awhile back, if I left more than 25 comments on various blogs, Blogger would tell me that I've hit my limit and cannot comment for 24 hours. Not sure if they fixed that second one. But for me, I cannot comment unless I accept third party cookies.

I am not a birding person, but I love to watch the birds. Your photos are excellent and make me feel I have been out with you on this nice day with fellow bloggers.
I am frustrated with Blogger and many people tell me I should change to another but the thought of having to learn all new things at this time is more than I can manage.
I have been without water in my house all week and that does not set well with me. I hope tomorrow will bring good clear and clean water for me.
Glad you had a great day with your friends.

Great post as always ... yes, you have been one of my most loyal bloggers to leave comments and both you and AC did not get posted on my last blog entry. Maybe a Canadian thing ????

Aw, love the pics of the critters. Love seeing them out and about in their own world.

How great that you could meet up with David and Miriam again. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun.
I have also been having trouble with leaving comments (although it seems to have got better again) and sometimes my list on the side doesn't even record that I have visited a particular blog (it usually changes colour). Most frustrating, although I finally figured out to watch for the comment flag that pops up AT THE BOTTOM of the page on some sites when publishing a comment.
Keep enjoying your picnics, walks, and wonderful birds :) xx

How fun to meet up with blogging friends. The bird sightings are beautiful. So many people are having difficulty leaving comments - Blogger seems to be in quite a knot these days. Hope they soon sort things out.

I have met a couple of bloggers.

Wonderful shots!

I know some legitimate comments from others have wound up in my spam folder in recent weeks. I assume the same is the case for some of mine.
