The boardwalk is looking particularly pretty these days, decked out in its spring best. The trees lining the walkway, dressed in their green finery, rustle in the breeze to the backbeat of nature. The birds add a familiar chorus, all the usual ones which frequent the area, the blackbirds, jays and sparrows are joined by Yellow Warblers which are less frequent visitors. They add a flash of sunlight as they flit among the leaves.
Lining the boardwalk now, the first wildflowers in are in bud and blooming. Dame’s Rocket is so pretty among the trees, growing up to waist height.
Yellow Salsify is closer to the earth, giving first impressions of dandelion blooms until you look closer.
Buttercups are more earthy and fill in the background.
The male Red-winged Blackbirds are plentiful and chatter in their familiar way. They flit among the trees, their epaulets adding a flash of colour.
The females are about now too, probably busy feeding young.
The sentinels of the boardwalk, the Song Sparrows, are always present. They sing their hearts out, as if nature depended on them for its continuity.
The Choke Cherry trees are dripping with clusters of blooms, made of tiny individual flowers.
They will provide food for the birds later this year.
The coming months of warm weather are a delight along the boardwalk.

You got some gorgeous shots!
Excellent series of pictures, Marie. You have captured spring well and brought back find memories for me too.
Ahh...a breath of fresh air! 🦋
Wow! Nice capture if the sparrow singing. Dame's Rocket is a flower I struggle to remember the name of. lol
You are so observant.
The sparrow has a song to share to the world. Great capture!!
Gorgeous photos of the unfurling of Spring. I particularly like the Red-Winged Blackbird
delightful images, those purple flowers are standouts. you are right about the song sparrow, and their song is so comforting!!
the red wings are as pretty as their picture!!
What an incredibly spot to walk and to see the wildlife and wildflowers. Great photos!
It seems so strange to see Spring just beginning when here in CA. in the Sacramento valley we are already deep into Summer weather.
Our plums are ready to be picked and the peaches grown in the foothills are ready too.
Fantastic photos of the birds and the Chock Cherry blossoms. Beautiful.

Stunning photos, Marie. It looks like the boardwalk is a magical place to visit at this time of year :)
Amazing photos of the birds! So beautiful! Have a great week!
Wonderful photos...I missed out on photographing so many things this spring. I did not even see choke cherries, nor come close to honey locusts. Do you have honey locusts up there?
Rose,
I am not familiar with honey locusts and from what I can determine, they do not grow here.
Marie
Marie, First of all, thank you for giving me more info about Gaspereau, in reply to my comment on your last post. The older I get, the more appreciation I have for the wonder that is nature. And that leads me to my second thought, your photography is simply wonderful. I feel like I'm almost there with you as you go along on these walks and snap these pictures. Thank you for sharing your blog! John
Lovely birds, trees...a great walk.
Dames Rocket...one of my favorites each spring! Ours is gone now, other flowers in bloom, but it's oh so lovely. Mary
We're just about in beginning of summer where plants are fully developed and at their best.
It was raining pretty good when we were at the Greenwich boardwalks so we missed them.
The wildflowers are so beautiful and colorful. You have captured some very interesting shots of the birds too. I love this time of the year.
This is such a hopeful time of year. Love Dame's Rocket, and the singing birds.
Stunning! I love spring following your winter. Somehow it takes on more meaning when you have spent months in the snow and ice.
What a lovely walk and the nature is just amazing this time of year...
Beautiful pictures!!!
Love from Titti
So much to love! We had hoped to walk this last Friday but the excessive wind changed our plans.
Oh, how I wish I were on that walk with you. You take me back to the days when I was actually proud of our country and could enjoy a lovely walk like you show. Now I can't even imagine an inocent and lovely walk ... my mind is too filled with hatred and fear for all that 4 Trump years has uncovered about our country.
Beautiful blog
What a beautiful posting. I love the wildflowers and birds.
I think I am back in business being able to post my comments with my name and photo.
Lets see if I am successful on your blog.

Simply glorious. Life is so boring here compared to your boardwalk.
I always liked buttercup.
Coffee is on and stay safe
Lots of life to be found.
You have a great camera and a good eye!
That is my favorite shade of Lavendar especially when surrounded by green. Isn't it funny how color can affect you with pleasure, all the way to hate.
