Beauties of an August week

The last month of summer is shaping up to be a bit cooler and less humid than the previous month. We have stayed close to home, walking on the boardwalk and the Confederation Trail. We did one 40 km round trip on our bikes to the neighbouring community of Wellington however, where we had a picnic.

The highlight of this past week was the wildflowers. I cannot pass a flower-lined trail to the beach without following it to the water.

There, just off-shore in Bedeque Bay, Bonaparte’s Gulls looked at home. They are common visitors this time of year.

A Great Blue Heron visited the area near the salt marsh as well.

Down another such trail, someone took the time to make and install the Boardwalk Inn for squirrels and birds alike. The Inn is in a prime location.

Along the boardwalk, the wildflowers are so tall they tower over our heads.

This Joe Pye weed approaches three metres high at least!

This ball of fluff was at the end of a lead held by a woman walking a fast pace.

It was everything the little dog could do to keep up with the owner. As the dog passed, she looked over at my husband and me, panting as she went. The little dog was giving it her all! Adorable!

A horse was in a farmyard along the Confederation Trail. This one had a visitor.

At Wellington, during our bike ride, we had lunch at the park by the Grand River.

The area was quiet with a few children at the playground and workers doing some repairs on one of the buildings. Sitting there having lunch in the sun, it was peaceful, far from the worries of the world.

Finally today, my husband’s cousin visited this past week. He is a bike enthusiast and came by on his Harley.

It is a beauty, though a bit too big for my husband who couldn’t hold it up. If he ever gets a motorcycle, which is his dream, it will have to be a three wheeler.

I wish you peace this week!

It seems every season has its beauty out there by you. Speaking of which, that Harley is a beauty, I used to have just like it in black.

A three wheeler sounds fun too. Love the little pup. Here, we've been fallish already and I LOVE it. Leaves are already orange on some trees. Yes please! Have a groovy week and boogie boogie (I'm soon to head to the day job).

Great photos, it looks so peaceful there. The little dog is trying to keep up and is so cute. We see a few little pups here and it's the same, they struggle trying to keep up, their little legs going very fast. :) Love the Boardwalk Inn.

Our weather has cooled off a bit too and we finally were able to use our deck for dinner for the first time all summer. Lovely photos

Glad to see you cycling like that. I'm not, but that's life.

I didn't think that Joe Pye would grow that tall in the wild. I've certainly not seen that here.

That looks like a particularly comfortable Harley! Your bit of the world looks so peaceful.

Poor little dog. I guess his owner didn't notice how hard he was working.
The flowers are amazing! What a sight they must be.
Not a motorcycle fan at all, but my husband would love to have one too.

I love the pictures of the wildflowers, the Joe Pye weed in particular. It wasn’t all that long ago when I would collect wildflowers and turn them into the most beautiful bouquets.

What a wonderful bicycle ride, complete with lunch! I grew up with the mindset that "food tastes better outside". I hope your hubby gets to live his motorcycle dream.

Love how you find beauty and wonder in all that you encounter!

I can see why the Heron is called Great...what a long neck that bird has.
The Joe Pye weed is amazing. All the heat and humidity, I'm certain has helped with its growth.

Nice to have cooler weather to go on walks and that's exactly what we will be doing shortly in nearby Mine Falls Park, Marie. Enjoyed seeing the images from your walk. By the way, I forgot, but is your camera a Nikon CoolPix P950 as another blogger has that model as well. I recently bought a Lumix ZX300 in exc. like new cond. and it has a 600mm zoom...but also so many settings 😟
