They look tattered this year. For the last several years, my husband and I have grown sunflowers, though not with great success. There have been different problems over the years; this year insects ate them from their first appearance above the soil. The blooms of those which grew to maturity have been eaten as well and they look disheveled.
However, they maintain their sunny dispositions in the face of all the hardship.
There is much we can learn from these frazzled blooms.
May your week be sunny in more ways than one!

They may look a little tattered, but they are definitely healthy and bright! :-)
I have discovered the sunflowers, one of my favorites, are great food for animals in insects.
It's a good reminder: maintain a sunny dispositions in the face of all the hardship
Gorgeous! Yellow, in all of it's shades (except the most muddied) has always been a happy favorite of mine. (new to your blog after finding you from Jan. :) )
I love sunflowers. They are so happy looking no matter how bedraggled. I wish I had some.
Hi Marie! Happy Sunday! Maybe they are a more "tattered" variety. I think they look pretty and fresh. Our sunflowers here are long-gone and have been eaten by the yellow goldfinches. Andrea
Sunshine on stalks. We too have had variable success with these charmers. Try, try, try again.
They keep on despite the hardship!
We will leave these blooms for the birds.
Keep going! Beauty shines through regardless of the lines and wrinkles!
Welcome Kailani. I will visit your blog too.
They are easy to plant, Barbara. Beyond that, it's proven hard for us.
We will leave these for the birds, Andrea. They are survivors, standing proud! Love them.
We'll keep t them too, EC. They are my husband's project. I am in the cheering section!
Oh, it will, it will.
Good, your sunflowers beautifully grow in the sunlight! I can see you and your husband smiling and ,of course your flowers too!
Good, Mage!
We do smile at them. We love them just as they are.
When I was around 8 or 9 years of age I begged my mom to plant a sunflower plant for me. We got one and it was a very tall variety or maybe I remember like that because I was very short yet. It has such a beautiful flower. There are a few fields planted with sunflowers here in North Dakota and it's so much fun to see when all the flowers are open and vibrant. Glad that you and your husband are both enjoying your sunflowers!
There are huge sunflowers here as well. We can't seem to grow them though, Angela. That is a great memory!
they are golden smile of the season i just love them whether tattered or healthy
I love that description, the golden smile. Thank you, baili.
