We had the grandkids overnight this past weekend and the grand-dog was part of the package. Usually when Georgie visits, her family is out of province. This time, only the parents were gone and the dog had to share her domain with the little ones. She was not impressed.
When she visits on her own, Georgie lies on her green blanket on the other end of the couch. This time she was displaced by the Sylvie and Caitlin. She did not take it well.
In typical Georgie fashion, she communicated how she felt. We laid her blanket on the floor and she settled there initially.
Periodically she came to the couch, looked at Sylvie sat in her spot, then at me, back at Sylvie and so on. After a few minutes, she went back to the blanket again.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.
The first opportunity she got, Georgie was back in her spot.
Georgie is seven years old now, old enough not to like change, especially where comfort and tradition are concerned. You may be able to teach an old dog new tricks but she won't take them lying down in the wrong place for long.

I can't blame her. It's HER spot, after all, and she's, well, not happy. Glad she got her spot back. :-)
It's a doggone dog's life.
Poor Georgie! Displaced at her age, lol!
Never heard of that proverb but it sure sounds true! Cute dog!!
Just found your blog, looking forward to visiting again!
Beautiful dog! I like older dogs. Maybe because I am older now! Andrea
Such a gorgeous dog. That is hilarious that she did not want to be "moved." Have a lovely afternoon.
Poor Georgie. I am also very glad that she was able to reclaim her spot. Those pesky two-legs...
Ahh poor Georgie she knows want she wants! Sarah x
She has to learn to share though, Jan. LOL.
It is, AC.
I know Debra. She's so set in her ways.
She is a cutie who likes things her way, Tabor.
Thank you for visiting, SS.
This one is perfect for us because she only visits on occasion, Andrea.
She is such a smart dog, Mildred. Nothing dumb about that animal.
Georgie thinks she is a human too, EC.
She does and we, her minions, must serve her properly.
We have a cat that acts like that. He likes the loveseat but when we have visitors and they sit there he hides. When people leave he slowly comes back to the living room. He sniffs the loveseat carefully, waits for a day then he sits there again. Animals are creatures of habit it seems. Georgie is beautiful!!!
Georgie is such a lovely dog Marie, how adorable the look on her face as she checks.. some would say stubbornness is a female characteristic 😀😀
So much like our dog who will be 14 this summer. There's always been competition with the grandchildren whether in the kitchen or on my husband's lap. Georgie is a beautiful girl, sad to see her making do on her green blanket on the floor.
Oh dear oh dear. What a perfect portrait you paint.
sweet captures...we all do have our "spots" don't we!!
Animals surprise me every day, Angela.
And determination too, PDP.
Dogs can be jealous of the grandkids, can't they, Judith?
She survived their visit, Mage.
We truly do, Debbie. Dogs are not so dumb!
So cute! Glad Georgie persisted!
She is one determined girl. Barb.
Georgie is a lovely girl. She reminded our family dog,Goro. He grew with our sons together. He had a 17 years of long life.
Goergie is a treasured part of the family, Tomoko. She doesn't realize she is a dog though.
Too funny! Dogs like their routines, very much! LOL!
Georgie sure likes hers, SUi.
she looks wise and very sweet ,you told her story of restlessness beautifully !
i can understand her anxiety when someone else took over her place.
you are right as age grows each creature strengthens his habits and routines .
Awww... Georgie is adorable. I just had to stop by after seeing your blog on Mage's list.
