Last resort

The walking track at Credit Union Place, CUP, in Summerside has become a familiar place these last few weeks as the weather has made our usual walks and hikes impossible. The track, which circles the stands of the largest of two ice surfaces in the complex, is a good place to walk.

While it is a world class facility, it cannot compete with the great outdoors, the boardwalk, heritage roads, beaches and trails we love so much.

For me, it is better than the treadmill which bores me to death. Every minute on that thing feels like an eternity and I am not a person who bores easily.

While today is a beautiful sunny day, the wind is gusting up to 100 kilometers an hour. This is not a day to go for a walk. Trees are coming down around the island and the treadmill is calling! Wish me luck.

I need vistas or scenery and would take my elliptical and watch something outdoorsy on TV. That is if I can get my butt off the couch.

I can understand that mall walking would be a drag since you have such beautiful parks and Landscape to walk around. I'm not close to an inside Mall anymore so looks like the dogs and I will be braving the cold as long as we can. It was cold and rainy this weekend which I am enjoying just because we haven't had cold and rain in a year. By tomorrow I'm sure I'll be tired of it. Hahaha

I almost went Mall walking yesterday, since it was raining during my usual Saturday morning walk. But my walking partner wanted to be outside. I'm glad we saved the boring part for some later date. I hear you about treadmills! :-)

Good luck.
I hope the wind damage is small and share your antipathy to treadmills.

Those are serious winds! Good idea to keep the walking indoors.

I agree a treadmill is anything but exciting. This is a great improvment, though as you say not the same as outdoors. Take care Diane

Walking the treadmill will at least keep you grounded.

That looks like a very good facility. Yes, the treadmill is boring. That is why I prefer the recumbent bike at the gym. I can read while I pedal!!

Winter walking is a problem is a town without malls. The high school does open its halls twice a week in the evening at a specific time, and a nearby arena does the same. But you have to modify your schedule to meet theirs. Not that walking is something that I do well now, which makes me sound invalided. I can exercise but walking out is a problem with my foot.

The track around the ice surfaces sounds like a much better option than the treadmill Marie, although I have to admit I don't mind the treadmill as long as I've got some music with a beat to walk to ✨

I know exactly what you mean...I have been to our indoor track recently also...at least the kids playing hockey and their parents in the stands are entertaining!
