We’d had twelve hours of snow and high winds and it took a day to dig out. A sunny morning followed without a breath of wind. It was time for a walk along the boardwalk but by mid afternoon when we finally could go, the sun was covered with a thick cloud, so we thought. A rain storm was on the horizon as the temperature rose.
The area had that calm before the storm feeling and the sun grasped for its last look through the clouds. The trees were an island in a sea of white.
From the gazebo, the cloud along the horizon had a hint of pink beneath a blue which faded into white. The sun tried its best to get through but to no avail.
From another angle, the river, land and sea all appear as one.
As my husband and I walked the boardwalk, the pink near the horizon lifted and changed colour, making room for more blue. The mid afternoon February light resembled twilight.
Further along, the harsh weather has taken its toll on the deciduous trees along the shoreline. They stood out in stark contrast to the sea of white.
From the bridge, the cloud over the harbour looked like blue sky. The sun had disappeared.
This place provides something different with every visit.

We are having the same type of storm today. Isn't it exciting to see the sun when you haven't seen it for a while! Andrea
Very nice pictures, Marie. I have to comment on your correct use of "its" -- it seems that few people know how to do that, even those who should know better. It's one of my "inner stickler" gripes that I deal with on a daily basis. I like several of your pictures very much, since they evoke a certain mood in me. :-)
It makes me think of a saying "always the same but ever-changing"! Here our mountains are the same but the setting is constantly changing with the weather! Enjoyed your pictures and thoughts, hoping that the desolate weather passes and that warmer weather comes soon for you!
beautiful snow for 12 hours, that's a lot of snow and it really looks so pretty. i prefer snow with no wind, but i would just love some snow, any snow...we may get some today!!
You have some nice photos here.
If this was yesterday, you are having different weather from us. Yesterday was cold but sunny and cheerful, We MAY get some freezing rain overnight, but I am hoping that it misses us.
I love the way you two embrace the beauty of all the seasons in your city. I am thinking that many, (which would probably include me if I lived there) would hunker down and stay inside as much as possible. But we are the beneficiaries of your escapades, being able to enjoy it vicariously through you (while sitting in front of a heater). Great pictures!
Lovely photos, but oh!, how much I crave some green grass right bout now!
Snow... so much snow! There and here!
I am desperate for sunny days... all week and not from time to time.
: )
Hello, beautiful views and winter scenes. It is snowing here today, a few inches on the ground so far. Wishing you a happy day!
Gorgeous winter scenes, so much beauty to see and enjoy. Thank you, Marie.
Strangely beautiful light in those cloudy skies!
You go out in this weather far more often than I. I long for spring and walking around the block.
You must have some serious winter clothing to be able to get out in all this cold weather! Seriously, way to go to keep on walking no matter the weather.
And wee enjoy every view. Thank you.
Beautiful pictures Marie.
It certainly does Marie. The snowscapes look incredibly beautiful to this Aussie who hasn't seen it since she left Scotland at age four 😀
It's finally sunny here today but we had so many days that looked just like in your photos. Your photos looks beautiful! I love those ton of pinkish-lavender skies.
Beautiful photos.
There's a beauty in these winter days as you have so eloquently described and shown, Marie. Before you know it you're be talking the praises of spring. But till then, I still love WINTER through your eyes.
First of all congrats to me that today I found your new posts with one click :)
What a poetic post dear Marie!

12 hours snow sounds scary to me!
