Every year, we like to take in at least one performance at the Victoria Playhouse at Victoria by the Sea on the south shore of Prince Edward Island.
Last summer and again this year, we saw comedians and thoroughly enjoyed the shows.
We always have lunch in the village and the seafood, fresh and well prepared, has never disappointed. However, the food is a small part of the experience in the little village and there is much to see. This is a fishing community and the boats are tied up at the wharf,
across the harbour from the fish plant.
Some of the restaurants are on the wharf, next to the boats. Fresh seafood indeed!
It was low tide at lunch time and blue herons,
cormorants, and sea gulls
enjoyed the early Sunday afternoon weather which was overcast, though pleasant. A kite surfer shared the waterway with them.
The people of the village take great pride in their homes,
which are well maintained and colourful as are the gardens.
People stroll around the sleepy little village visiting the galleries and shops. We always buy some chocolate made in the local store.
The theatre is the heartbeat of the village in the summer, drawing crowds to the performances, the shops and studios.
The community has small town charm, with its range lighthouse, colourful houses, restaurants, studios, stores and waterfront. It is a peaceful little island community with much to offer.

It is truly beautiful and a delightful place to live. Thank you for all the wonderful pictures you share. :-)
Victoria sounds like a wonderful spot!
Just lovely. I can just smell the salt air. What a great place to be.
Lucky you to have access without having to fight your way into the city!
Thank you so much for sharing the very best of small town charm.
We lost a lot when we started living in groups too big to be a community.
It is a quiet, peaceful life here, Jan.
It is a treasure, Debra.
The air is so fresh, Celia.
Our traffic jams are from a tractor on the road, Tabor. Getting around is so easy.
How true, EC. This whole island is small town living.
Just flat out magic.
It is, Mage!
For an inlander from Ontario like me, the seafood would be the highlight of the trip. We have a membership for a small community theatre north of us and they do put on fabulous shows as well.
I'd love to see houses here painted the wonderful colours that are seen out east. I'd have a purple one for sure. :-)
It must be so nice to have access to all the seafood you want. Here on the prairies the variety is scarce.
Purple would be fun, Judith.
There is great variety here, Emma. I love halibut but cod is my favourite.
Looks like a great place to spend some time!
It is great there!

It is a beautiful place, Heather. Thanks for visiting.
It is a great little village, Kathleen!
Beyond delightful! I really enjoyed your tour through the eyes of your camera. I love that the Islanders take such pride in their homes, the architecture of them is stunning, all the different colors and styles of the homes. And oh, the homemade chocolate, yes please! I am hungry now for a lobster sandwich. It's been too long! Hard to get fresh lobster here, and nothing like eating it fresh from the boat, nothing like it in the world! So happy to have "strolled" with you through this lovely little town :)
Victoria is a lovely village! Lots of country charm, SUI.
So charming. Your island sounds very scenic. I like that old cash register, too!
It is a beautiful island, Barb, with so much charm!
You are so blessed to be surrounded by idyllic beauty.

I would love to see a cormorant in person. I have read about them in "Island of the Blue Dolphin"....but have never seen one.

Jackie

Beautiful spot. If that's not far from the Borden ferry, I think I spent a bit of time in the area eons ago. We ended up in a pub with some fun people we scarcely knew, listening to a live band called Miller's Jug, whom I believe were from Halifax. This would have been in the late 70's.
Thank you, Baili
Thank you, baili.
It sounds like a great memory, Hilary. This is about a half hour drive from where the ferry was at Borden.

That is one place I have always wanted to go, but some how it evades me. I suppose it is much like Maine though and that I have been too. Happy New Year!
The sea is a wonderful part of our beautiful planet.
Same to you, baili.
Happy New Year to you and your family, baili.
Happy New Year, Kelleyn. PEI is different from Maine in it's geology and landscape for sure. The culture is somewhat different too.
We love Maine as well.

Thank you for visiting, PDP.
Your beautiful gentle island is a long way from our home in Minnesota. Still our summer vacations always saw us head north to Canada and most often to Prince Edward Island. Fond memories indeed...:)
Thank you for visiting, TB. I am glad you enjoyed our gentle island.
Thank you so much for your visit and comment, Marie. We went to PEI several years back and now you're making me want to take another trip there.
It is amazing to me how many people who have read this blog have been here, Kay! Thank you for visiting.
Beautiful!! Absolutely beautiful! Several people in our family have visited your area of the world. Someday I shall do that even if just a very fast visit. Love the colors they painted the houses but the ocean and the water looks heavenly. Thank you for your visit Marie! I noticed that I had my photos so small. I had forgotten to enlarge them but I have now fixed that. Have a wonderful day!
So beautiful! Nice to see :) I like the colourful houses...

What a lovely place. Though somehow I can't get the image of Queen Victoria in beachwear out of my mind. It's not pretty!
I so enjoy your love of birds of every kind. Beautiful.
Always something to see by the sea! Glad you liked my blogs - I'm struggling a little with the writing one at present - but a new one should be along soon (ish)!
