It's Sunday afternoon and we head for a walk along the boardwalk. During the week, retired citizenry frequent the path by the sea. Today, we share the area with weekend warriors, those work-a-day souls who hit the trails when they can eek out a few minutes for themselves.
Sometimes children accompany parents on the trail. The younger ones are eager to feed the birds and squirrels just as the seniors do all week. The animals appeal to the young and young at heart.
Groups of teens sometimes frequent the boardwalk as well. Rarely are parents included with this age group. Young athletes jog the route, headphones in place as they listen to music only they can hear. Others walk with friends, sharing gossip and stories, laughing and enjoying the time together.
Rarely do parents and teenagers walk or run together. Until Sunday. A father walked, a teenager rode a Hoverboard.
The father and son were deep in conversation as they moved along the boardwalk. What a unique way to spend quality time with your teen. Father-son time in the twenty-first century!

Love it, Marie. Yes, the weekends are the times I stay away from the mountains and trails I love so much, since they are much more crowded than during the week, when us seniors avail ourselves of them. :-)
Teenage years are so difficult, aren't they.
I like the idea of that very much Marie.. I still love to see my husband and son have their chats together, and my daughter too. I loved the way you described the boardwalk, made me think of the 'walk on the promenade' they did in olden times ☺
This actual conversing has to stop. :)
Wait? Are you sure these are real humans? I don't see anyone's neck bent low, looking at a phone screen.
what a great story - not so common anymore!! we like our path during the week, it's nice and quiet and we don't have to "share"!! come the weekend, the place is packed and much harder to navigate as we ride our bikes!!
A great photo. I've always been fascinated watching how boys and young men walk exactly like their fathers. This time we'll never know.
Lovely to see. On the weekends we tend to hunker down and stay home. And join the other retirees during the week.
These two were an unusual, though welcome sight, Jan.
Yes they are. These two have found a way to talk though, Debra.
It was unusual but great to see them, PDP.
Lol. Let's hope not, AC.
Lol. I know. An unusual sight, HW.
Those weekend warriors hit the trails everywhere it seems, Debbie!
No with these two, Joanne.
My husband walks like his grandfather, now that I think about it.
That's a good plan with the busy trails and walk ways on the weekends, EC.
Hi Marie! Sounds like you are good at people-watching! Around here, we walk but not too many others come out of their homes!! Andrea
I like to observe people, Andrea. They make life so interesting!
What a great photo op!
It was an interesting sight, Mildred. Great thinking on the father's part!
I'm still a Daddy's girl. Daddy will be 91 and I will be 67 this year.
I will go with him or he is welcome to go with us anywhere. Always a pleasure to be with Daddy.
I wish my Dad was still with us, Jackie. You are very fortunate!
Bonding with children, or even grandchildren is a special time together and it's nice when time is made to do this.
:-)
Love the Father-Son time. Being together is what is important...
So true, Judith. It looks a bit different today!
Togetherness is what it's all about, photowannabe.
I am blessed, Marie.
I count each day with both of my parents as a blessing.
You are blessed indeed, Jackie.
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it
seems as though you relied on the video to make your point.
You obviously know what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your weblog when you could be giving us something informative to read?
I like to write but I enjoy photography too. The photo and a short write-up satisfy both interests. Thank you for your comment.
