The Seawalk by the harbour at North Rustico is a favourite place for a stroll. The fishing community is a hub of activity in the spring and summer. It is quieter in the late autumn as the tourists are long gone and life has returned to normal for the residents.
The walk by the bay passes through some trees along the shoreline and is never more than a few meters from the sea.
The small birds along the path are missing today but the larger birds still hang out in the harbour.
Canada geese have yet to leave for warmer climes but they remind me of the old nursery rhyme, Christmas is coming, and the geese are getting fat.
These birds are ready for the long journey if their baggage is any indication.
Further along the Seawalk, a lone Black-backed gull digs through the snow into the seaweed gathered along the shore.
American black ducks look quite comfortable floating in the harbour.
In the distance, at the entrance of the harbour, the houses, wharves, and summer businesses look deserted.
However, one small boat has yet to be pulled ashore ahead of the winter freeze-up.
We crossed the road and headed to the beach, part of the national park.
On our last visit, the beach was crowded with sun bathers and swimmers. Today there is an avian crowd, Herring gulls atop the tons of seaweed accumulated along the beach over the last few months.
As we made our way back, it was noticeably darker. But that’s another story.

Wow, would love to watch the birds in winter at the beach...as long as there is no wind.
I notice the boat is called "can't afford," lol.
That looks like a lot of snow already! It's so interesting to see pictures of snow on the beach. I guess it's because of where and when we go, but I just don't think of the beach as getting snow.
Oh wow! Snow on the beach. That rarely happens here on the Washington/Oregon Coast. Very beautiful.

SNOW! I saw everything else, too, of course, but the SNOW sticks out for me like a sore thumb. Actually, I remember the worst snow blizzard of my life one American Thanksgiving weekend back in the 80's (end of November), in Michigan, so I do know snow this early is possible. I have a feeling you love it as much as I do!
What a lovely place where you live Marie. It always reminds me to slow down and "smell the roses", or in your case to enjoy the hearty birds that seem to revel in the cold and snow.
You are lucky to have so many incredible walks available to you Marie. I sometimes feel a wee bit deprived at never having the opportunity to walk in the snow here ☺

you have snow, i am a tad jealous. everything looks beautiful, i prefer the beaches empty, except for the gulls and geese!!
You have quite a bit of snow there. We had loads but nearly all washed away by rain now. Lovely to walk by the ocean, I wish I could do it!
It was a delightful stroll even as it grew dark.
I think I can imagine you bundled up strolling on the beach.
