Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, Season’s Greetings, Happy Holidays. I hope, over the next few weeks, you have the opportunity to spend time with people you love.

For the first time in five years, I am taking a break from my blog. It is hard to let go after five years of at least three posts a week. The habit will be a hard one to break, even briefly.

Part of the reason for the break has to do with my frustration with Blogger. I cannot respond to people on my blog any more and for days at a time I can’t comment on other blogs. Sometimes I have a few minutes to make comments for days of posts. I have reported the problem numerous times to no avail and tried different fixes suggested by other bloggers. I enjoyed both of these aspects of the program and the frustration, with the writing and photography is too much for now. The weather and the busy season haven’t helped either. I will continue to follow my favourite blogs and comment during the brief windows of opportunity I have to do so. I hope to be back in the new year.

For now, take care.

Marie

I understand your frustration with Blogger. Some people switch to Wordpress, I know, but then you have to learn a whole new platform. When I was in the US on holiday, I used a laptop with a Safari browser and could not comment on many blogs because they would not recognize my Google profile. As soon as I got home and started using my Google Chrome browser again, the problem disappeared. What browser do you use? Perhaps that's part of the problem. Google throws up roadblocks if its own products are not used, the bastards.

Hopefully the problem sorts itself out. I had issues around this time last year in which it was demanding captchas, and refusing to accept the captchas I was entering.

Merry Christmas.

Like Debra says, if I have problems in one browser I switch to another one. I use Chrome more than the others. Have a good time on your break and I'll miss you while you're gone. I love to "visit" PEI. :-)

Blogger does seem to 'play up' from time to time.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas.

All the best Jan

Hope your Christmas is good. I cannot respond to comments on my page either. I can add a comment but that's a close as I can get. I will miss you.

Wordpress is far worse. I hope you don't go that route. It's limited in who can reply/comment. I have to use a fake email to respond on wordpress blogs, because years ago I signed up in order to communicate. Deleted my account YEARS ago, but it still wants me to sign in...which won't take people than to my blog here on blogger but to WP. I've given up trying to get them to fix it and really delete me. The only problem I'm having with blogger is the increased cpatcha's which I hate and don't use. Now even the pictures are annoying. They gone to at least 2 pages of pictures to click on which is really annoying. I wish people wouldn't use them. Hope to see you back soon.

Enjoy your rest. Just keep in mind that it's YOUR journal. It's just online is all. There are no prerequisites. I get this wrong in my head sometimes.

Computer business can get one frustrated for sure. Hope you can get a few days to rest and enjoy the festivities. Wishing you a lovely Christmas and a great New Year!! May the new year bring peace, good health and lots of love!!! I look forward to see more posts from you. I truly enjoy! Hugs! P.S. This is Angela in North Dakota. I just changed my profile photo and used the one from the time we visited India.

Between my phone and my computer I have been fighting "the good fight" against Blogger or maybe it is Facebook sharing our info that caused it. I'm about ready to give up too. With Trump jumping all over the place, I'm ready to give up on news too. The more they fix up our toys, the harder they are to use. Pleeeease just leave them alone.

Hi Marie! Merry Christmas! I know you will have a great holiday with your kids/grandkids. In my browser setting, I don't accept 3rd party cookies. But in the last month or so, in order to comment on blogger (even on my own blog), I have to change the setting to accepting all cookies. So I do that and then after I comment set it back to not accepting 3rd party cookies, as that is a safer setting. But I did read something on blogger (or somewhere) that it is the cookies. Andrea

I hope you have a Merry Christmas despite the blog problems. I'm not sure if it would help or not, but maybe take a look at Wordpress for blogging if Blogger is being too much of a pain. I think it's a little more advanced, but it's supposed to be a good alternative to Blogger. I have an account there but I've never actually tried to open a blog there.

How frustrating, indeed. I think if I had all those issues I would just start a new blog. I use Blogger and (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems at all with it, but it may be because my blog is still young and I may have signed up in a relatively recent version that doesn't have glitches as yet. And I use Firefox as a browser and never have any problem commenting on other blogs, so it can't be just that Google wants Google products.

I don't know if anyone has suggested this to you, but very high resolution (high quality) photographs like those you post take up a lot more memory and may be causing you some issues. I think you can convert your high res photos to lower resolution before posting them. If you Google "convert high resolution to low in photography" you will likely find some info on it.

Enjoy all your grandchildren (and children!) during the holidays, Marie! Wishing you peace and joy and a happy 2019. I hope you find a way to come back to blogland and keep us up to date on everything PEI :)

I ran into trouble with Blogger when I changed my email address and the only way I could get my blog working was to put it on Google. I can post etc. but it feels very different. I feel your frustration but would miss you very much. I love your wonderful pictures and descriptions.

I aam so sorry. Have you tried changing the format. When I did, everything failed. Can you go to other blogs? If so, you can leave notes that way. Hugs.

Belated Christmas wishes to you and your family. I'm sorry you have had such problems with blogger, it can be so frustrating. As you know I haven't been very active lately but haven't experienced the problems you are having,I too used Chrome. Sarah x

Sorry!! Blogger had given me a bit of a frustration until I got out of Google login and went back to the old fashioned login.

Oh, bless you, Marie. What a bummer when programs don't consistently work like we expect them to. I totally get it. When I upgraded from Outlook 7 to 16, I no longer got email messages when someone leaves a comment on my blog. I think it's a "permission" setting but I can't find it. Also, in the beginning I published posts every day on Blogger...but only publish once a week now. It totally changed my life when I downgraded. But still, you want the reasons to be under YOUR control and not under the control of the program. I trust you'll get it figured out in the new year! In the meantime, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

sorry to hear about your frustrations. I plan to resume blogging within the week, but I'm staying at wordpress.com (not.org.) I like it there. Happy new year!

How frustrating! I hope the issues get fixed! Take care and see you soon!

Ack on the frustrations. Did you know that when I click on you from my comment page that it takes me to your google plus page? I don't know if that's part of the problem but I know another blogger having similar issues to you and that blogger is also tied to G+ and it's just not working for them.

Hope that helps and see you when you get back.

Block walking time again so popping in again to wave hello. Will a few more times to see what you're up to, if you've fixed your problem or stopped blogging. Pretty sure the reply to comments is a setting issues, as I had that happen once and was able to fix it. Probably told you that in one of my previous comments. As far as not being able to post comments on others blog, I would suggest you clear you cashe, do any updates you have pending from windows, shut down and restart your computer.

Happy happy New Year Marie. Blogger can be painful at times, hopefully you will get it sorted soon. It certainly was a busy period, my son and his family were here from Sydney. My grandchildren are adorable, but exhausting 😀
