Relief

On May 1st, the province of Prince Edward Island eased some of the restrictions on residents regarding Covid 19 isolation. Up to that time, we had 27 cases of the viral disease, all related to travel, without any hospitalizations or deaths. We have been fortunate thus far.

Although we still cannot be around our daughter and the grandkids, we can go for a drive, a hike and take photos. My husband and I include a picnic of course. Social distancing is a continued part of life and isn’t a problem in the areas we visit.

On Friday, the first day we could spread our wings, we went west of home with Georgie, the golden grand-dog, to visit Tignish Shore.  The cold northeasterly wind made our winter clothing essential. However, it would have taken more than cold to keep us home that day. The excursion was a glimpse of the life we enjoyed prior to the pandemic and it felt so good in spite of the cold. It doesn’t take long to miss one’s freedom.

There were two walkers on the beach and a few sea gulls floated on the air currents above us. The beach was surprisingly clean after the winter, its red sand stretching before us as the icy water splashed ashore. As we often do, we allowed Georgie to run between us.

In typical Georgie fashion, she took a dip in the waves along the way after which she rolled in the sand. That dog loves to be messy and she made us filthy too as she shook off the sand and water when she returned to us.

We roared with laughter. After seven weeks of Covid precautions, Georgie provided great stress relief and an interesting beginning to the next part of our pandemic experience.

Love to hear that the restrictions are gradually being lifted. Not quite the same here in ontario but it will come. But it's very worrying to think about the impact this is having on the economy, especially a lot of the small shops in my town.

I'm amazed to see red sand. So used to white beaches. What's the underlying geology that creates the color? It's amazing. And I think a lot of us feel like running about and getting wonderfully dirty and sandy and wet. Lucky dog!

It certainly looks deserted, for the most part. I enlarged the picture and saw that other couple in the distance. We have another month of partial lockdown ahead. It's become familiar after almost two months.

It's the little things. It must have been so nice for you. While we haven't faced travel restrictions as such, it has been frowned upon and we have been pretty compliant apart from taking a few 20 minute round trips, once to recharge the drained battery -- the cars I mean, although I guess it helped to replenish my battery too. :)

Very beautiful photoes of the Beach(my son also took alook at them he says wow it is like Jaws! We dont have beaches like this here in West coast of Norway they are all very stony and full of Cliffs

It must be great beeing out for a walk in these times. Here we dont have so many affected(Deaths)it is about 200 mostly in the elderly institutions..But all is very strickt. If you snezze or cough or worse got a Fever you will be sent right into quarantine for 2 -3 weeks.Yes the tourist industry and the shops are suffering even our airplanes( Norwegian/Sas) it is not sure they can hold the crisis
I Wonder how it all will be after this.
Mostly i hope for a vaccine will be around before Winther

Thanx for sharing beautiful images!
wish you a blessed day!

Hooray for Georgie. And for a s.l.o.w and steady lifting of the restrictions.
That picnic must have been wonderful.

Glad that some of your restrictions were eased. We are still in and have a 2km limit. On May 18th it goes up to 5km and that will be nice. Tomorrow we will take a short walk and then go to the grocery store. Georgie knows how to brighten up your day, I had to laugh that she rolled in the sand once again. :) Have a lovely evening and stay safe.

How marvelous to have the freedom again to visit any beach you like and breathe in that fresh sea air :)

I'm glad you got to get out and see something else. We have been fortunate that we have been allowed to drive as long as not with others outside those living in the same home.

I know that had to feel good to get out...and can just imagine Georgie. I had a dachshund that loved mud puddles...she laid down in everyone she came to. Also, Lorelei's mom would jump in every mudpuddle she came to if I did put a stop to it real quick!

Oh I can just imagine how that felt for you Marie, to be out and about in the fresh air, no matter how chilly, is the most wonderful feeling. Georgie would have been estatic! Are all your beaches this colour Marie?

Love seeing you get out and about, especially with Georgie..
I am amazed at the red sand beach..didn't know about that.
As things open up a bit , Dave and I are spreading our wings too.
I really can't wait to come and go as we please...but I think that's a long ways off for us seniors.

It does feel good to get out and especially to a beach. We are in the Miami area, so our beaches are closed because of the density of people living in the area and as soon as the beaches open, travelers show up! We do have some parks to walk in that are adjacent to the beaches.

So good to know that the restrictions are gradually being lifted!
The redsand beach is always beautiful and it is fun to see those long tire tracks running on the sand.
I am staying at home without grocery shopping twice a week.

That's wonderful that the cases have been so limited there! It has to feel good to be able to get out a little more. I'd love to go to the beach right now!

I love your red sand beaches, and how good the pandemic seems contained, where you live. I am staying home alone here in California with several walks with my dog each day, and I wear a mask for that. My sons visit and we sit outside six feet apart, thank goodness the weather is in the 70s to allow outdoor visits.
