Along the way in 2022

As we travel around the Prince Edward Island, there are always interesting things or curiosities which we see along the way.

There is an area of the boardwalk which I call Hobbit House. It gets a lot of animal activity when birdseed or peanuts are left there. Hobbits visit when people leave for the day.

Recently our travels took us to the beach at Yankee Hill. Someone in the area put this sign up by the parking lot.

There wasn’t much there that day but beach toys for kids are left there often.

Some time later, the evening news reported about the items left at the sign having been stolen. My wish is that life never gets so newsworthy on this gentle island that such stories don’t make the evening news.

This fishing shack at Malpeque has an message which brings a smile to many.

In keeping with the fishing theme, someone decided to reuse fishing buoys found on the beach at Brander’s Pond. It is a good way to keep the stray buoys from littering the ocean or the beach.

This lone Canada Goose enjoyed his time among the gulls and swimming in the ocean with a cormorant. He was an unusual sight, the first goose we’ve ever seen on the beach.

At French River a kayaker returned to shore after a paddle through the channel. It must be nice to see the shoreline from a different perspective and see cormorants close-up.

My husband and I are planning to take our daughter’s kayak for a spin after tourist season when the West River area is less crowded. I miss riding my bicycle and the kayak would be something different to experience. It was my husband’s idea and he is not a fan of the water, but is eager to try it. You can bet there will be life jackets involved.

Kayaking was one thing we wanted to do but never did one our Maritime adventure. Hope you are able to get out this fall!

Lovely sights here. If toys are meant to be taken, how can it be stealing to take them? Sounds like control issues!

I certainly hope life jackets will be part of the kayaking adventures, speaking as a nonwater fan. But I wonder if we'll get pictures of the shore from the water?

I think that Canada Goose just wants to vacation in PEI like everyone else!

Love the Hobbit house! Too adorable. What a different idea about the toy tree. Sorry that the toys were stolen, its always a shame when those few people spoil things for others. I have been dealing with my thoughts of putting up a small library outside the house but then I worry about those few folks that would make it hard for others. Stealing books, tearing them up and leaving on the ground or destroying the library that I make.

The Hobbit House is pretty nice to see. Love the signs but it's too bad people stole some of the toys left there. There are always some jerks that can put a blemish on things. Kayaking sounds like fun, never tried it though. Have a wonderful week, Marie.

what a delightful post - though I am sorry to hear that some low life stole the toys.
Like everyone else I look forward to hearing/seeing more about your kayaking adventures (in the fullness of time).

We always wear life jackets as well. There is something so serene about gliding on the water in a kayak.

What a splendid summer you seem to be having.

Life jackets are definitely a must on the water.
I wonder if the Canada goose got separated from it's flock and decided to hang with the cormorants for the summer. :)

Life jacket are a must when out on the water, as far as I would be concerned. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.

There is always something interesting to see on your wonderful island.
I love the signs but so sad that people just can't keep their fingers to themselves..Why do they have to destroy things around them?
I have never been in a kayak..think it would be fun..kind of wobbly like a canoe though.
Love to see photos when you do do it.

what a wonderful idea about leaving toys for others, why does someone always have to ruin things for others!! awesome sign on the fishing shack....and such a great idea for the buoys.

i had to be rescued from a kayak. be sure and find a very calm place to go the first time!! pretty images today!!
