It is that time of year. Christmas season is soon put to rest and the depths of winter envelope us.
Snow and darkness are the order of the day in eastern Canada. When the sun does shine, it has little heat, unlike the longer days of spring. We prepare for these few long months, when the cold cloaks us in winter's worst, the wind bites at the face and the snow and ice make simple outdoor tasks the most difficult.
One way to cope involves a book, an armchair and a cozy fire.
Before you know it a nap overtakes you and draws you into that other dimension where time or circumstance are irrelevant. Sometimes the nap is from lack of sleep, a boring book, or exhaustion from activity. On occasion it is because the conditions are perfect; your breathing slows, then deepens and you are gone for a short time or hours.
Whatever the reason or the length, there is no such thing as a bad nap.The season is upon us.

I love this. For me, there is one bad nap: when I slumber in my easy chair and wake to find my head had fallen to one side and wrenched my neck. So I try hard to get myself to bed when I'm tired. I love that last picture. :-)
I think I had one of those naps yesterday.... hard to remember!
You describe winter well and your adaptations to it. Just lately I haven't been napping. Maybe I've been sleeping better at night.
Zzzzounds about right.
I hate those times when I get a crick in my neck too!
They are the best.
Lucky you to get a good night's sleep. Wish I knew what it was like.
Lol. It really does.
Marie.... we were discussing the possibility of a family holiday in PEI in summer 2016.... so any advice you can give me will be very welcome. i have been to PEI only once, for one day only, so I know very little about the geography of the island. My email is on my blog.
We are heading to the Mayor's New Year Celebration in the Park this evening.... horse drawn sleigh rides (probably hay wagon rides as there's not much snow), bonfire, hot chocolate, music, ice sculptures. Then back to son's house, have a kiddy N Yr count down, then put all 4 to bed at about 10pm, then it's our turn to see the New Year in.
Sending you and your family Best Wishes for good health and lots of good times in 2016!
I sent some suggestions already. Will send more.
Happy New Year!
