The lure of a bench

Seeing them these cold days makes me shiver, though I have enjoyed them immensely in warmer weather. Benches have a tendency to draw you to them, though the temperature can be off-putting. Such is the magic of a bench, whatever the design or location, though some of my favourites are by the sea. This time of year, they represent hope.

This bench in North Rustico was inviting but it was too cold to sit and ponder or just enjoy the setting.

The bench at the end of the boardwalk in Summerside

has a distant view of the Confederation Bridge, making it a great place to sit for a time. Not today!

Benches can be battered as well as snow covered.

This long bench comes with its own cover.

Some benches, like the one below, will wait until spring for their next guests.

And some are a perfect part of the scenery any time of year!

Wonderful pictures of benches in various modes of inactivity. I woke this morning to an amazingly warm temperature after a warm wind blew all night long. Doesn't feel right to be this warm! :-)

I don't need much of an excuse to sit down on a warm day either. Lots of the benches on my local nature reserve are in memory of those who used to enjoy walking there. What finer memorial could one have?

Benches are good subjects. On Flickr, I sometimes post a bench on Monday, as do others. HBM - Happy Bench Monday.

Our weather is stable and rain will bring a slight warming tomorrow. Snow is almost all gone. I do like benches and am now keeping my eye out due to your post.

The older I get, the more I want to see a lot of benches in public spaces! I need to sit down!

I am so grateful for the beauty your artist's eye gives us. And looking longingly at those cool scenes.

Hello, the view of the beach and water are pretty. It does look cold there, too cold to sit on the bench. I like the last shot with the plant between the two benches. Nice captures of the shadows too. Enjoy your day and have a happy weekend!

Very little can beat a well placed bench! Especially when you have good company and a coffee!
