It was 5 p.m. as we headed home after a day on the northeast coast of Prince Edward Island. As we passed by the bay, we noticed a flock of Great Blue Herons just off-shore. Of course we stopped to take in the scene.
While we were stopped for the herons, the scene on the horizon made us linger as the sun highlighted a band of clouds beneath thick blue cloud cover. The water below looked silver as birds, probably gulls, foraged in the intertidal zone.
Wading and floating in the water, geese looked peaceful as well.
However the most dramatic scene became the long shot of the Indian Head Lighthouse with a shimmer of light on its north side, the band of lighter cloud directly behind it and the dark blue cloud overhead. The intertidal zone provided interest in the foreground. The pools of water in that zone reflected the dark blue overhead. That lone white cloud highlighted the lighthouse.
Nature surprises us constantly.

That last shot's a keeper!
Yes, nature does surprise ... but you always keep us in the know. Thanks, Marie
Wonderful shots, especially that last one, just perfect in every way.
Beautiful!
That last shot is so lovely and frameable.
That last picture needs to be framed and hung where you can see it a lot.
Nature is the best show.
Great shots. I love the animals.
Like a moving picture!
This is a good testament as to how lower light results in better photos. (Not meant as a critique to other photos but pointing out that there are a step above. This is a universal, truth and not just about your photos.)
Beautiful....
Fleeting beauty....
But you were there, to witness it....

So very, very beautiful. Thank you so much.
I love the lighthouse photo, it's a stunner!
That lighthouse shot really stands out.
The last picture is absolutely stunning.
Yes, that's a great picture.
That last shot does have the most photographic interest.
You found a lot in the last photo. Nicely done.
I find tide pool interesting.
Coffee is on and stay safe
Hello,
Gorgeous series, I love the views of the bay and the lighthouse.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
The large blue herons are such a grand looking bird. I'm not sure I've ever seen a flock of them, usually just one lone bird by itself in a nearby lake or on the edge of the intracoastal waters. As usual, I've enjoyed your photos.
Wow! Wonderful seascapes. It's always amazing how the colour and character of the sea changes under different lighting conditions.
The silver, blue and pink made a beautiful combination. Your water pictures always remind me of how long it has been since I was at the beach. Water soothes my soul.
Prince Edward Island is a place that I have always wanted to visit, but never quite got there. The more I see your photos, the more I’m thinking that I need to visit, and soon! How lovely and serene.
So pretty
Your last photo is gorgeous, a true wall hanger.
I'm so glad you made a stop to photograph it.

Beautiful!
Nature never loses its capacity to fill us with awe and wonder. Today we observed the tides at the Bay of Fundy, from low tide to high tide, and walked on the ocean "floor". This is a world class natural phenomenon every Canadian should try to experience.
What lovely colours in these photos - you are indeed lucky to live where you do, but you do take fine, fine records of what you see. I love bird in flight shots and there they are. Thanks!!!
Yes, that cloud is doing its job perfectly.
all are pretty but yes that last one is stunning!! nature is amazing!!
No wonder you stopped. Love the blue tones.
