Hanging out

See these friends at the playground last week?

The youngest one is sixty-four, the others more than a decade older. Each wanted to do a chin-up, requiring extreme effort, amid much laughter. They were three kids hanging out at the playground.

As they played, a young father approached, carrying one child on his chest and accompanied by a four year old girl. She waited a minute for her turn on the monkey bars while her father smiled at the scene.

Second childhood? These seniors have never lost the inner child. May they never lose the desire to play.

After all, age is but a number.

Although age is just a number, we also have a bit more bulk to haul around! Fun pictures! Chin-ups are hard. :-)

It's never too late to have a happy childhood, as they say!

I can't pass that kind of fun up either but I can no more chin myself than I can fly. :-)

That would be my husband, running right over like a little kid to do chin ups. lol Me, I don't have the upper body strength and would likely head for the swings.

My inner child is frequently the healthiest and happiest part of me. Even if she can't manage chin-ups.
Big smiles. And thank you.

I met a woman once who told me that every day she and her neighbor sat outside in her covered swing for an hour. She told me that when you get older, if you are not out running errands, the day will slip away and you haven't been outside. So she and her neighbor made a pact to sit outside for an hour each day. She told me to remember this when I got older. I got older .... and I remember. Play ground is a great outdoor space - and to those of you who could do a chin up - I'm impressed.

You too, B.

Me either. The swings and see saw are my speed.

Me too, Judith. My husband is working on those chin ups now. He's obsessed.

So true, Jackie. I am still 19 in my mind! What happened?

A playground can be for all ages. It is a great outdoor space in many neighbourhoods. When we take our granddaughters to the local park we like to play with them.you friend was very wise!

No chin ups for me, Barbara.

I used to be strong. Office work ruined me.

Marie Smith said...

It can do that for sure. Our strength disappears with our youth it seems.

You kids look like you are having such fun.

It was great fun! The best part was the child waiting for the bigger kids to be finished!
