Vacancy

She sits nestled among the trees, barely visible from one side of the road.

The clapboard is gray, having lost its colour to the elements. The faded brown roof looks intact for now. The old place has stood empty for years though someone mows the grass.

The laughter of days gone by is but a faint echo and tears a mere stain on the old wood floor. Her glory days are past and she faces an uncertain future.

The old garage is showing its age as well. Vines have climbed over one side and make their way down the front too. Soon it will disappear into the tree line.

Every now and then people stop to take photos of the sad house. Maybe one day, someone will buy the property and return her to full life again. I hope it happens soon.

Maybe the house could be restored but I think the garage is a goner.

Seems a bit sad, especially when you personify the place a little.

Great photo of an entrancing old building. Love old houses and can't help but wonder who lived there and where they went? I hope it gets filled and rescued soon.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if houses had memories. I hope it was filled with happiness and peace.

Oh that's so sad Marie, I should think it was quite grand and very pretty in its heyday!

I suspect it would take an enormous amount of work.

We see so much of that here. Restoration used to be the order of the day, but so many young people are now looking for new houses that they can afford, Restoration is too expensive! Very sad.
Enjoy your weekend, Diane

It's sad to see this grand house reduced to such a state. It would be a nice project for someone to work on and save it.

Old and beautiful. So very beautiful. I do hope she can be (sympathetically) restored to her former glory.

It looks delightful, and oozing character.

I hope it happens, too. There was much life and joy in that place in past years. You can feel it, still.

I wish it a better future.

Well, that's quite a lovely house but sadly may be too far gone to be worth reviving! I wonder what the story is, why nobody has lived there for such a long time..

Young people leave here and move to western Canada Diane. The older places are left to ruin.

It would indeed Bill. Lots of work for sure!

It's intriguing that the grounds are still cared for. I hope the property gets a new lease on life at some point, and like others here, I'm so curious about the back story!

I am wondering why the owners don't sell it.
