The Confederation Trail on Prince Edward Island is the old railbed, reclaimed after the railway was abandoned in 1989. It cuts through the countryside, fields and forests, across streams and rivers. Near our home, the trailway provides a glimpse of the progress of spring.
The fields are being ploughed now, prepared for planting after a wet fall and winter.
Fiddleheads are erupting along the sides of the trail.
Pussy willows are in bloom.
Many of the trees are in bloom now, before the leaves erupt. On this mid afternoon spring day, the moon shines above us.
Shadows provide art for those who care to stop and take it in.
The trail appears to go on forever over the gentle countryside.

Hello Marie,
Pretty views of the trail and plants. I love the moon photo. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend.
Our spring is now almost done and it is nice to visit yours!
I love learning all about PEI from your posts. And that moon shot with the buds is lovely. :-)
You have a great eye Marie. Glad it's spring and I can enjoy your jaunts with you.
Nice to see spring making some headway. We have some old railways made into recreational routes, I love cycling on them but find them rather tedious to walk on for any great distance.
Glorious Springtime.
I love the fiddleheads and the shadow road shot especially.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful shots!
Glorious.
Spring (when she settles in) is such a vibrant and exciting time.
Love your moon shot too.
YAY for springtime, it seems you waited for a very long time. I love that railway made in to a trail to hike on. We have some of those too which I hope to explore this summer. Beautiful photos and narrative as always.
Have a wonderful weekend, Marie!
That lane just makes me want to skip down the road. You have to wonder, if you've never been there, just what will you find.
Hi Marie, I am fascinated by old railroad trails. Your photos are great. Here in the Pacific Northwest there used to be rails as part of one of the transcontinental lines between Chicago and Seattle. They belonged to the Milwaukee Road Railroad. The lines were abandoned in about 1980. I have loved to walk along some of those trails. I would enjoy walking on your trail too. Thank you for sharing. Hope you have a fine weekend ahead. John
Did you ever eat fiddleheads?
Beautiful images. This is the kind of trail I would love to walk along, camera in hand, of course.
Pretty trail and I love the shadows cast on the road. I know it is refreshing to see signs of spring. Enjoy your weekend.
It does appear to go on forever!!
A trail for a pleasant walk.
I hope spring lasts a bit longer this year...
Ohh so beautiful Marie!! It looks like a wonderful place to take walks. Have a wonderful weekend!
We are still in the midst of winter here. Cold and rain...so it's wonderful to see spring in bloom.
If the "Fiddleheads are erupting" can the fiddles be far behind?
those fiddleheads are so cool. looks like a great place to enjoy being outdoors!! enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
Looks so inviting Marie, spring is such a pretty time of year. I too looooove the moon shot, tres belle ✨
Some signs of spring I think!
