On our recent visit to Tignish Shore, we continued several kilometres northwest to North Cape, the north western tip of Prince Edward Island where we haven’t been for a few years. A trail there runs along the coastline with vegetation which survives the icy salt sea spray. Since we had already walked the beach, we decided to have our picnic near the trail to enjoy the setting. We’ll visit again to walk the trail.
There is a wind farm at North Cape and we could hear the turbines as we set up for our first picnic for the year. The wind was cold however so we used the car as a windbreak. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch and a cup of tea has never tasted so good for flavour and warmth.
I like to live in the moment but having lived in freedom our entire lives, it was easy to take for granted our ability to experience those moments when and where we wish. The immense pleasure of a picnic in a place of our choosing has a whole new level of appreciation. This and so much more can be taken away by an invisible enemy with just one breath.

It’s the little things, like being able to sit on a bench that we pass, which we are not allowed to do yet.
When we come through this I hope we can hold on to that appreciation. We take such a lot for granted when it's available.
I always love to visit your beautiful island, Marie. And this time will pass, eventually, and become a distant memory. That is my hope, at least.
Nice to be able to travel and enjoy the countryside. I haven't actually travelled anywhere apart from the grocery store the post office and the car wash over the past 8 weeks!!!! I am starting to get itchy feel and I am confident that the restrictions will be eased a little soon. Then maybe I can see my grandchildren, and actually HUG THEM!!!!
We've been to the east end of the island, but never to the northwest end.
Yes, it's great to have an attitude of gratitude!
It is the simple things in life that matter the most. Hopefully people will remember that and appreciate what they have.
I am so very glad that you got your picnic - even in the wind. And what a beautiful area.
Our restrictions are also s.l.o.w.l.y lifting.
If this pandemic teaches us nothing else, it may at least teach us to value the simple things in life. that is what I want to take away from it.
I'm glad you had a nice picnic lunch … you live in such a beautiful place and we are lucky that you share it with us.
It is the small pleasures like this that really make a life worthwhile. A picnic sounds so good to me.
A beach walk and a picnic - sounds like heaven to me :)
This is more than social distancing! Throw a picnic in and life is good.
well said marie, it is so important ant to appreciate every day!! the first image is gorgeous!!!
We tend to take a lot of things for granted... I will have more picnics ... God willing... and spend more time bonding with nature, even when I am surrounded by tall buildings. Your outings have become an inspiration.
Loved the pic.
What a beautiful place to have and enjoy a picnic, something I am looking forward to in the near future. Wishing you all the best.
The invisible enemy is usually the most invincible of all. I had a fellow work for me, a big strong immigrant from Uruguay, newborn baby, building a life in Canada. At thirty he was diagnosed with cancer, just after his thirty-first birthday he was dead.
I guess all this will pass eventually but I suspect it is going to take a while and we all need to be patient. Stay safe, Diane
Hello,
I would enjoy a picnic with views like these, beautiful scenes and photos. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend.
What a treat Marie, love a picnic in the car when it's chilly outside. Things are really going well in Perth so I'm hoping it won't be too long before we can head out on a country trip,
Marie, somehow, your posts allow me to take a deep breath and relax. I love PEI from your lens♥
I especially like your first picture. So lovely there. And peaceful.💖
Yes, it can. Glad the picnic was such a success.
